James 4:8-Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Seeking a personal relationship with God? It can not happen without you drawing near to Him.
Indeed we are living in perilous times. Jesus warned us in scripture that perilous times would come. Trouble is in our land on every side. If ever there was a time when we needed to draw near to God, it is now.
We MUST draw near to God. How? First by submitting ourselves unto Him by faith through Christ Jesus. Giving of ourselves completely to Him in total allegiance to Him alone.
Submitting is also coming into agreement with God for His will for our lives.
When we submit to God, our flesh is brought under subjection to the authority of God’s Word in obedience to it.
When we submit to God and draw near to Him, we are able stand against or oppose the devil and his deceptiveness along with all his worldly pleasures through the gift of “discernment” by means of the Holy Spirit.
It is through the “Spirit” of God that we are able to see that satan is against God and against us. His deception is not hidden, but “REVEALED”!
Once we have submitted by faith to God through Christ Jesus, our personal relationship and our drawing near to God begins as we daily study and meditate on God’s Word, prayer and time with Him in our secret place away from all the noise of the world.
God is as willing to get as close to us as we are willing to get close to Him.
Drawing close to God requires effort on our part. If you feel separated from God, it is you that have moved and not God.
This same message that James, the brother of Jesus wrote to the believers in Jerusalem, "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, sinners, and purify your hearts, double-minded people" is being sent forth from heaven to mankind around the world on today.
James gives us the remedy for drawing near to God in this text. He says “cleanse your hands, sinners and purify your hearts, double-minded people”. Confess your sins and put it under submission to the authoritative Word of God. When we submit to God, the devil flees.
When James says "Purify your hearts, double-minded people." What does he mean by "double-minded"? A person who is double-minded is drawn in two completely different directions. One who tries to serve God and the world system.
James 1:8 - A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. You cannot hold on to God and the world at the same time.
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son that whosoever believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
When we draw near to God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, , it is through the Blood of Jesus Christ that we are justified, and it's through the Word that we are cleansed and sanctified.
Many attempt to draw nigh to God with their mouth all the while their hearts are far from Him.
Oh, they come and appear to be drawing near to God but they are not really sold out to God. They are not sincere with Him. They draw near with their lips but their heart is far from Him according to Matthew 15:8.
It's very important that we have a sincere heart when we draw near to God. When we are not, it shows a lack of sincerity and true love for the Lord when we come to Him with a double mind.
The nearer we come to God, the more He will reveal Himself to us.
Psalm 91:14-16 Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, and I willd eliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.
The time to draw near to God is now!
Drawing near to God is a”Clarion Call” from heaven on today. The Lord’s trumpet is resounding. Have you heard it warning you?
