Psalm 62:11 - God has spoken once, twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God.
David wrote this text at a time when he was desperate and on the run for his life. His enemies (evil men) were threatening to topple him as king and they were seeking ways to kill him.
We all will face times when we will come under attack of our enemies, but, like David, we have a shelter to run to in God. Psalm 46:1-God is our refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble.
In his desperation, David declares that "once has God spoken and twice has he heard Him. Hearing God twice is a sign that what is being said is worthy of one's attention.
Since God had spoken, nothing else is necessary for He is the final authority.
Jesus Himself declares in Matthew 24:35-Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.
The "Word" of God is from everlasting to everlasting. It was in the beginning, is now and forever shall be.
We may speak many times and never be heard, but God speaks once and his powerful "Words" are heard and seen around the universe.
Psalm 89:6-14 For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly sons is like the Lord? 7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the holy ones and awesome to all those who surround Him.
8 O Lord God of Hosts, who is a mighty Lord like You, with Your faithfulness all around You? 9 You rule the raging of the sea;when the waves arise, You still them. 10 You crushed Rahab like a corpse; You scattered Your enemies with Your strong arm.
11 The heavens are Yours; the earth also is Yours; the world and all that is in it, You have founded them. 12 The north and the south, You have created them;Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Your name.
13 You have a mighty arm, and strong is Your hand, and victorious is Your right hand.14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth shall go before Your presence.
Daniel 4:35-And all the inhabitants of the earth are regarded as nothing; and He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. And no one can hold back His hand or say to Him, “What have You done?”
God is God and power belong to Him!
In creating the universe, God spoke and it was created. God said "let us make man in our own image and man and woman was created by God". God said "let there be light and there was light."
To the leper He said, "be clean" and immediately the leper was cleansed. To Lazarus who was dead and laid in a grave 4 days and stinking, He cried, "Lazarus, come forth," and the dead came forth. The stormy wind and the raging sea ceased at His Words "peace be still". A man who was demon possessed by a legion of demons and lived in a cemetery was set free by God's authoritative command to come out of the man.
POWER BELONG TO GOD!
Our God is both strong and loving. Both His power and His love are seen in His Son, Jesus who is the Christ.
"The power of God is the "Sovereignty" of God. God has the ability, strength and power to bring to pass whatever He pleases. In His infinite wisdom and power, He does as He pleases for He is God and power belongs to God alone.
Man is only equipped with limited power that has been given to Him by God.
God is the "ULTIMATE POWER SOURCE" and originator of all power in heaven and on earth.
To some God speaks twice and they will not hear once; but to others He speaks but once, and they hear twice.”
We must make sure that we hear twice, God’s answer on how to deal with threatening/difficult problems.
First, God is powerful and second, He is loving. Therefore, He will rightly judge all of our enemies.
If anyone opposes God’s power and resists His love, he or she will know God's justice.
Remember, POWER BELONGS TO GOD!
God bless you all.
