Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you.
This text is part of what is known as Jesus “Sermon On The Mount.”
The call today is to get our "priorities" in order by "Putting God "First" in our lives.
In this part of His sermon Jesus assures His listeners that there is no need for those who put him first to fret or worry about the lack or need of the basic necessities of life like food, drink and clothing, for He said if God provide for the fowl of the air, man being more than them, won't God provide much more for man? O ye of little faith!
Having said that, Jesus drives home His point which says "seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness" and all these things will be added unto you.
Seek the kingdom of God! Seek the rule and reign of Christ on the throne of your heart. This is the kingdom that Jesus is calling us to seek on today.
Seek to know Christ, seek to know His will for our lives and obey it, seek Him so that your light may shine in the earth and other will see Jesus through you and God will get the glory.
The call is not only to seek God’s kingdom, but to also seek His “righteousness”. Seek a personal relationship with God that will bring you into right standing with God. One that will allow you to be justified and not condemned. One that would allow our every thought to be brought into obedience of His Holy Spirit.
Seek to be right with God by accepting His Word as the only truth and authority that you will live by.
In other words, put God first and you will have no need to fret nor worry about anything. Allow God to sit on the throne of your heart and watch God!
We as humans have and continue to seek and put before God everything imaginable and all of them lasted but for a little while.
The call today is to "seek God first". We cannot rule our own lives. We do not have enough wisdom, knowledge, ability, sense enough, nor power to do it. We may think we can, but if we would be honest with ourselves, we even fail ourselves at times. God never fails!
Proverbs 14:12- There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
Scripture is clear on today. Jesus meant what He said when He said to "forsake all and follow me." He said it to His disciples over 2k years ago and that same bell is ringing louder throughout the world today.
Anything that is not adding to your spiritual growth, but hindering it and affecting your relationship with God and His purpose for your life, you need to let it go.
No, it’s not that God does not want us to be successful in life and accomplish our goals and dreams. No, He is just saying that in all we do, seek Him first. Let there be no other gods.
Seeking the kingdom of God means seeking the “King of Kings”, Jesus Christ who is also Lord of Lord.
There cannot be a kingdom without a king. The first priority of our life ought to be to seek the King and them then seek to become part of His kingdom through a personal relationship with Him and obedience to his commands.
It is not enough to just seek God, but to see Him “first”. First things means first. How do you seek Him? By faith.
Do you want to make the rest of your life the best of your life? Put Christ first in your life and allow Him to be your Lord. Live every moment for Him and He will take care of the rest.
God’s Word is true, powerful and sharper than any two edge sword. He said it and He will do it! He went as far as even writing it down in His bible so that you can read it for yourself.
God promise to you and I on today is that if we seek Him with our whole heart, seek His rule and reign in our lives, He will supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
The question becomes, "do you have enough faith to believe that? Scripture declares that without faith it is impossible to please God.
If you do not have the faith to believe God, there is no way I can be convinced that you have the faith to put God first and trust Him to supply all your needs.
In the time in which we live, it is very important that God and spiritual matters takes front row in our lives. The well being of our souls and our eternal destination depends upon this priority of putting God "first."
Life is uncertain, time is short, therefore, we need to attend to the matter of making God first “priority” in our lives an urgent matter in our lives.
Tomorrow is not promised. We have no guarantees of it, only a hope. What happens if we do not see it and we die without ever making the choice to put God “first” in our lives. A question is asked in scripture “who knoweth what a day may bring forth”?
Everyday and every opportunity that you make a delay in putting God “first” in your life, the more the opportunity there is for satan to cause you to harden your heart in the struggle of putting God “first”.
If you continue to neglect putting God “first” in your life and if you wait one minute too long, it will be fatal if you die separated from Him because you refuse to put Him “first”.
Once this moment is passed and you have transitioned from earth to eternity, the opportunity is no more. Your damnation is certain.
Believe it or not, everybody that’s talking about heaven ain’t going there. Scripture declares that heaven is a prepared place for prepared people. Those who willfully choose to put God “first” in their lives.
Until we put God “first” in our lives, we will never be satisfied. We can shop and buy all we want, we can take one vacation after another, we can seek one career after another, we can take one vacation after another, we can do this and we can do that, but we will still be empty and find our self still needing more and more “stuff”.
Jeremiah 17:7 - "But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence.
We will never know the full reward of obedience until we put God "first.” Where does God fit in your life? Is He first? If not, who is?
God bless you all.
