James 2:14-17 - My friends, what good is it to say you have faith, when you don’t do anything to show that you really do have faith? Can that kind of faith save you?
15 If you know someone who doesn’t have any clothes or food,16 you shouldn’t just say, “I hope all goes well for you. I hope you will be warm and have plenty to eat.” What good is it to say this, unless you do something to help?
17 Faith that doesn’t lead us to do good deeds is all alone and dead! Faith is action, not talk. Faith produces evidence of it.
18 But a man may say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God; you do well. The demons also believe and tremble.
20 But do you want to be shown, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
22 Do you see how faith worked with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 The Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,”[a] and he was called the friend of God.
24 You see then how by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise, was not Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead.
Faith definition according to scripture can be found in Hebrews 11:1- Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:6-Without faith it is impossible to please God. without faith we cannot be saved, without faith the Christian life is not what God intended it to be.
Of course, we are not saved by works because scripture declares that faith comes this way in Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
We are not saved by works, but by faith through grace. Let's listen to Ephesians 2:8-9For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, 9 not of works, so that no one should boast.
True faith is seen in our actions, not so much in our words. Faith apart from works is dead faith. It is useless, serves no purpose, is of benefit to no one. Dead faith is no faith at all according to the word of God.
Bragging about your faith and having no evidence of it is useless.
Where is your faith on today? What has faith lead you to do for someone else you know that is in need.
Stop talking faith and let today be the day that you begin to live out your faith thorough your actions to those you know are in need.
To be honest, the true blessing and the best gift you could ever receive is seeing joy on the face of those you helped in need.
