Proverbs 14:3- NLT-A fool’s proud talk becomes a rod that beats him, but the words of the wise keep them safe.
MEV-In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride, but the lips of the wise will preserve them.
Nothing speaks more to who we are than our words and our actions.
King Solomon, whom the bible describes as the wisest man ever lived, other than Jesus Himself, gives us a comparison of a foolish man and a wise man based on what is spoken from their lips.
King Solomon plainly states that the lips of the foolish are filled with punishment because of their pride.
Clearly, Solomon is stating that the prideful words of a foolish man or woman will get them in trouble and the lips of the wise will keep them out of trouble.
Throughout scripture we find God's command to stay away from a "prideful heart" for God hates it. Proverbs 16:5-Everyone who is proud in heart is a shame to the Lord. For sure, that one will be punished.
Where pride is, there is shame and disgrace, but where humility is, there is wisdom.
Pride is foolish. It cost nothing but it can take away everything!
Let's listen to what scripture has to say about pride in Proverbs 16:18-Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Pride is what brought about the fall of our first parents Adam and Eve in the garden and pride is still working in the hearts of man today.
What was the end of pride in the beginning of creation and forever will be from generation to generation if we choose to operate in it? Sin and separation from God.
Prideful or humble? Foolish or wise? What footing are you standing on today? Foolish self pride or the wisdom of God.
Full of self pride, selfishness, self righteous, me, myself and I? If this describes you, you are guaranteed a fall.
Pride produces 3 deadly poison that is still ruling and reigning in the hearts of many even on today. They are (1) the lust of the flesh, 2) the lust of the eyes, and 3) the pride of life.
We are warned in scripture on today that pride brings about a fall. If you have been living an unwise life of selfish pride, I can only hope and pray that you seek God for divine wisdom on today so that you could avoid self inflicted wrath.
It is God alone who can provide all of us with true wisdom. Scripture declares in Proverbs 2:6-All wisdom comes from the Lord, and so do common sense and understanding.
What is King Solomon saying to us on today? If you are one who want to live a life of divine wisdom and walk in God’s best, then we must make every effort to fill our lips with God’s wisdom that is found in His word along with humility.
Scripture declares in Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
I want to leave all of us with this point on today and that is “OUR WORDS MATTERS.”
Believe it or not, but prideful words opens the door for satan to destroy you.
Pride destroys you, but humility and wisdom keeps you safe.
SPEAK TO OUR HEARTS LORD!
