The Feeding of the Five Thousand
13 When Jesus heard this, He departed from there by boat for a deserted place. But when the people heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. 14 Jesus went ashore and saw a great assembly. And He was moved with compassion toward them, and He healed their sick.
15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a lonely place and the day is now over. Send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy themselves food.”
16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to depart. You give them something to eat.”
17 They said to Him, “We have only five loaves here and two fish.”
18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19 Then He commanded the crowds to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to His disciples; and the disciples gave them to the crowds. 20 They all ate and were filled. And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. 21 Those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
The feeding of the five thousand is just one of the many miracle that Jesus performed while he walked the earth.
Believe it or not, Jesus is still performing miracles on today. He is sending forth His love throughout the earth is so many ways.
The food that Jesus offered back then and is still offering to dying men, women, boys and girls on today is still "LOVE".
Physical food fills us for a little while and then we are hungry again, but when we are filled with the "love" of Christ, the hunger for love is no longer craved, but shared.
It was His (Christ) "love" for us that He put on flesh and came to dwell among us. It was "love" that caused Him to fulfill His purpose of coming to die on a cross for you and I.
The love of Christ towards humanity is seen in this feeding of the multitude. Scripture declares in Matthew 4:4-Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
Love is the food they needed and the food we all need. This is what Jesus commands the Disciples to give to the multitude when he says to them, “you feed them.”
In other words, love ye one another as I have loved you, especially those who are crippled, blind, diseased, poor, widowed, lame, etc. Those who the world sometimes unwilling to love, but instead ignore or reject.
When we take time to show forth love to one another, it will come back in return unto us. The disciples are proof of this for after the miracle feeding of the multitude, they had 12 baskets of scrap left one. One basket for each of them. They were returned in the same measure with what they gave.
That is like our God. He gave!! John 3:16-For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
The God of the impossible is our God! He asked Moses in Genesis 18;14a-Is anything too difficult for the LORD?
Are you in need of a miracle in your life on today? God is able to do anything. He is the same God that spoke to Moses in the Old Testament and the same God that fed this multitude in the New Testament.
Our God changes not for He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Whatever your desperate need is on today, call upon the Lord, seek His face, trust and believe that when you pray, He has already heard and answered your prayer according to His will.
God Himself declares in Jeremiah 32:27-"I am the LORD, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?
Remember, our God, The Lord God, The Sovereign God declares to you and I on today that because of His love for us there is nothing too hard for Him to do for us.
The miracle called "Love" is what Jesus is offering. Do you stand in need of His love? It is available to you on today.
To the command of Jesus, the disciples served "love" that day to the multitude. Is this your desire? If you are, you are ripe for a miracle.
Continue to obey God's command in giving "love" for there is a miracle with your name on it!
