Psalm 16:1-Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.
Full of hope and personal confidence in God is where we find the writer of this text. He believes that God is able to keep him safe, therefore, in God will he take refuge.
This text reveals the psalmist confession of faith in God and his personal relationship with Him for He called God "my God".
David knew that as long as He is in God's protection, regardless of what he may have to go through or suffer in his life, in spite of his enemies, in spite of persecution or adversity, in spite of opposition, there is no need to worry nor fear for God will shelter him under His Mighty wings.
Oh what a confession of faith and confidence that is revealed and exemplified here in this text.
The heart felt cry of David to the Lord is seen in his request for continual protection. He cries out these words to the Lord "keep me safe for in You alone is where I take refuge and am safe."
Seeking shelter from another source or another person other than God? If so, you will continue to be unprotected. The stormy seas of life, the heavy rain, strong wind and high tides will eventually drown you and leave you forever unprotected and without shelter.
Real hope is not found in anything we have nor anyone we may know for it is in God alone where everlasting hope, trust and shelter can be found.
When God is our refuge there is salvation, protection, counsel, instruction, rest and peace.
Are you in trouble and in need of shelter on today? Are you living your life unprotected against the next storm that is guaranteed to come in your life? If you are, I urge, beg and plea with you on today that you seek Shelter in God for you are gonna need it.
My prayer and hope for you on today is that you run to "SAFETY" in God. He is the ONLY "Anchor" that will be able to stand against the strong winds of test and trials on life's stormy sea.
God is our ONLY place of guaranteed protection and safety. Psalm 46:1-God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
When God is our protection, our shelter, our place of refuge, we are guaranteed VICTORY through Him.
Psalm 91:1-4-He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
We live in a world that says “security” is only found in achievements, careers, education, status, wealth and many other temporal thing, but David is this text reminds us that putting our faith and trust in God alone guarantees us safety and security when the battles and storm of life rages, therefore, He himself will seek and find security in God alone.
In David’s day, the world in which he lived had presented other options of “shelter” too, but David knew that ONLY God could be a real shelter from the storms of life. He realized that in a unpredictable world, God was his only place of a sure foundation.
David knew that God was his “Refuge” and would always be there when he needed Him. He knew that God was his compass in life.
Just like David, we ALL can find our security in God and when we do, we too can boldly proclaim that “in God we will take refuge.”
There is a storm out on the ocean (world) and it is moving this way and if your soul is not anchored, you will surely drift away.
Are you protected? Is God your place of shelter? If not, it is still not too late. White breath is still in your body and while the blood is still running warm in your body, you can make your confession to God right now in the name of Jesus.
Seek the Lord’s “Shelter” while it is yet day for night is coming and like the 5 foolish virgins in Matthew 25, you do not want to be caught in the storm unprotected with no place of shelter to hide.
In Jesus alone and not in ourselves nor the world, is where full security and protection is found.
We can find guaranteed security because of what Jesus Christ has done for us on the cross of Calvary.
Jesus is all that we need. He is our refuge. He is our inheritance. He is our hope.
TAKE SHELTER IN JESUS ON TODAY FOR YOU GONNA NEED HIM!
