In Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: The virgin[a] shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Isaiah was a "Prophet" sent from God to the people of God. He was chosen and called by God and He answered the call during a critical time in his life.
Isaiah received his call to be God’s mouthpiece in the year King Uzziah died. The story of his call can be found in Isaiah 6:1-4.
Let's listen to how the Prophet Isaiah's journey as a "mouthpiece for God" began.
Isaiah 6:1-8 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphim. Each one had six wings. With two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 One cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of Hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory.”
4 The posts of the door moved at the voice of him who cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am undone because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips. For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts.”
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar in his hand. 7 And he laid it on my mouth, and said, “This has touched your lips, and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.”
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me.”
In this old testament text, the Prophet Isaiah declares that the Lord God will deliver and set free His people from the hands of their enemy.
The Lord, God Himself will give a sign to His people through the working of a miracle in the womb of a "virgin" who will conceive and give birth to a son whose name SHALL be called "Immanuel", which means "God With Us."
In the words of the Apostle Paul found in 1 Timothy 1:15-This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst.
Paul told Timothy that this "deserves full acceptance." I say the same to you on today.
I don't know if you are a believer of the virgin conception and birth. I do not know if you are a believer of Jesus Christ who came into the world to save the lost, but one thing I know to be true and that is the Word of God. It is the same yesterday, today and forever. It changes not!!
I say to those of you who have been living in unbelief of the "virgin conception and birth" that now is the time to believe and put your faith and trust in God.
Now is the time to believe and not doubt for the day of repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ by faith is now!
