Luke 2:15-20 15 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see what has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”
16 So they came hurrying and found Mary and Joseph, and the Baby lying in a manger. 17 When they had seen Him, they made widely known the word which was told them concerning this Child. 18 And all those who heard it marveled at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.
Having heard the birth announcement of Jesus by the angels, the "shepherds" said to each other "let us NOW go to Bethlehem and see what has happened, which the Lord has made known to us."
Here we see the "shepherds" faith put into immediate action after hearing the birth announcement of the "SAVIOR."
The Shepherds heard the "good news," they believed and then they responded in faith and action. Romans 10:17-Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
Just like Jesus birth announcement back then, birth announcements are still being sent out on a daily basis in our world, but no birth announcement is greater than the one that announced the birth of our "Savior over 2k years ago."
The message of the "Gospel" is not only "good news," but it also brings great joy to all who would believe it.
Having traveled and now finding Jesus along with Mary and Joseph and being full of excitement and joy, the shepherds were witness to what was told them by the angels concerning our Savior birth.
All that heard what the shepherds said marveled, but Mary kept their sayings close in her heart and treasured them.
Having seen Jesus for themselves, the shepherds knew without a doubt that the "Redeemer" of sinners had come into the world to save those that were and are still lost today.
The day of Jesus physical birth was indeed the day that "SALVATION" was offered to the world.
Having witnessed this glorious and miraculous work of God, the shepherds returned to their fields to continue watching their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen.
How has the birth announcement of our "SAVIOR" caused you to respond? Has it caused you to seek Him, testify of Him, worship Him, glorify and praise Him as did the shepherds did?
I can only pray that this Christmas season you too would seek the "SAVIOR' for He alone is the only who can fulfill that empty void that you daily attempt to fill with the stuff of this world and day after find yourself still empty and needing another fill.
The Shepherds seek, found and testified of the Savior birth. Can or will you do the same this Christmas?
ONE THING OF ASSURETY IS THE FACT THAT THOSE WHO SEEK THE "SAVIOR" WILL FIND HIM AND TESTIFY OF HIM TO THE WORLD!
