When Jesus was born in the village of Bethlehem in Judea, Herod was king. During this time some wise men[a] from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and said "where is the child born to be king of the Jews? We saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him."
During this time in biblical history, the earthly king was "Herod." Known to him was that his reign would be temporary, but the reign of the new born "KING, JESUS" would be an eternal reign on the throne of David from everlasting to everlasting for He is the "Promised Messiah" that was long awaited for by the Jewish people.
Jesus is God in the flesh. Immanuel, God with us. King of kings and Lord of lords.
Upon hearing of the birth of the "KING OF THE JEWS" being born in Bethlehem, the "Magi" also known as the "wise men" from the east, set out to find Jesus.
A lot is not known about these "Magi." We do not know their names, their ages nor how many of them that went to visit Jesus.
Matthew also does not give us a specific country or physical address from which these "Magi" came. We are not even given their names, just their title as "Magi".
There is no information as to the specific means of transportation to Jerusalem that was used by these “Magi.”
Matthew only tell us that these foreigners came from the east to worship Him.
These magi were possibly astronomers of some sort because it was the "star" that indicated the birth of Christ to them.
Upon their arrival to Jerusalem, the "Magi" asked "Where is the child born to be king of the Jews? We saw His "star" in the east and have come to worship him.”
The "Magi" searched for Jesus with an agenda in mind, which was to "WORSHIP" Him.
WORSHIP-sagad in Hebrew, which means to bow down or fall down.
Jesus is to be Worshiped by all the nations of the World and we are told in scripture the way in which we MUST worship Him. Let;s listen to John 4:24-God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."
The "Magi" having seen a "STAR", came from the east seeking Jesus, King of the Jews.
