Matthew 2:7-12 Then Herod, when he had privately called the wise men, carefully inquired of them what time the star appeared. 8 And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search diligently for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring me word again, so that I may come and worship Him also.”
9 When they heard the king, they departed. And the star which they saw in the east went before them until it came and stood over where the young Child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with great excitement.
After having received knowledge that the "Christ Child" had been born in Bethlehem, King Herod called a private meeting with the "wise men or magi" to set in motion his plot to kill Jesus.
In private, he inquire of them as to what time did the star appeared. Then he requested that they "go and search carefully for the child" and when He is found, come back and let him know so he may go and worship Him.
Herod's request sounds like one of innocence and good intent, but being troubled by hearing the news of Jesus birth proves that his intent is not to worship the "Christ Child" but to kill Him.
A king like Herod who loved power and authority to the point of killing others, including his own family members is proof that he is definitely not one who would bow down and worship anyone.
The good news in these verses of scripture is the fact that all the power that King Herod had, he was unable to stop the plan of God in the birth of "Jesus" for Heord was no match for the "Sovereign Power" of God Almighty!
Herod may have stopped many events in his time of reign as king and he may have stopped many people in their tracks, but He did not have the power to stop God! GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!!!
As Herod attempt to manipulate the "wise men or magi" because of his own fear of losing his kingship, the deceitfulness and hardness of his heart against "Jesus" is revealed.
Having departed from their private meeting with jealous and vengeful King Herod, the "wise men or magi" began to follow the "star" from the east which went before them as they traveled until it came and stood over where the young child was.
LOOK AT GOD! Divine providence without a doubt.
The "wise men or magi" finally made it to Bethlehem where the "Christ Child" had been found with Mary and Joseph and when they saw Him, they rejoiced with great excitement.
Having seen the "Word of God" made flesh, brought great joy and excitement for these "Magi."
The plot is set in motion, but it will not work for we will see how God orchestrates His divine plan and direction for these "magi" in tomorrow's study.
People of God, I want to leave you with this word of encouragement.
Regardless of what the enemy may plot against you, God has a plan for you and your enemies will not gain victory over you as long as you are in the will of God for your life.
With God, the people of God will forever have His divine protection, even when it looks like the enemy is winning.
Remember, with God you will always comes out a winner in the end. The fight may be fierce and the battle may be brutal, but you will still win with God!
Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.
I am not saying evil will not come against you, but it won't prosper.
This is a place for you to take a praise break right here for God says this concerning you and I in Isaiah 54:17 -no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD.
Psalm 37:7-9- Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper—it only leads to harm. 9 For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land.
People of God, be still and know that God is God. The weapon may form, but it WILL NOT prosper because God is ordering your steps away from the plots of your enemies. Jesus is proof!
