1 Peter 4:12 - Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that is taking place among you to test you, as though some strange thing happened to you.
Is Your Faith under fire?
The Apostle James reminds us on today that we should not be surprised at their arrival, but as Christians, we should expect them. 2 Timothy 3:12-yea and all that live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
Jesus Himself reminds us in John 16:33-I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”
As Christians, we must see suffering from God's eternal perspective, which scripture says is all temporary.
We may suffer for a little while in these bodies, which may seem like a long time to us, but we must remember that the glory of God lies ahead for us when we suffer for Christ.
We are reminded of the assured glory that shall be revealed to us in the future in Romans 8:18- For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us.
So, how do we find strength in the time of trouble? In Christ alone! Scripture declares in Nehemiah 8;10 -The joy of the Lord is our strength.
How is this joy found? Joy is found In the presence of God. In reverence of God, in prayer to Him, in His Word, in praise and in worship to Him.
Psalm 16:11-You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
When trouble comes to attempt to take our joy and our strength, we are to be reminded that nothing can take what God has already given us. True “joy” and “strength” comes from God and not the world nor our circumstances.
In the fiery furnace of life? Seek God who in turns give you the strength, joy and hope needed to endure so that you may be able to continue on in this Christian race.
Test and trials are targets that can easily bring discouragement, but you must know without a doubt that you do have a way of escape.
Scripture declares in 1 Corinthians 10:13-No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, and He will not permit you to be tempted above what you can endure, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.
