Psalm 4:1 - Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
You have given me relief when I was in distress; have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
In His time of distress, David called on the Lord.
The battle was not only around David, but the battle was also raging within David.
Do you stand in need of relief from your stress on today? Are you in need for a peace of mind?
In this text, in a time of distress is where we find David.
Instead of worrying, David chose to call on God. What about you? What are you doing in your time of distress? Are you calling others to tell them about it? Are you complaining about it? Are you blaming God? Or, are you seeking God about the situation?
Where are you in your time of distress on today?
David in this text, gives us the remedy on how to rid ourselves of unnecessary stress by casting them on the Lord.
Let's look at how David handled the stress he was dealing with. First, David showed appreciation for what God had done for him in the past by reflecting on God's help in his time of distress in the pass. As He reflects, he thank God for what He had already done for him when he said "you "HAVE" relieved me when I "WAS" in distress.
David shows us that God's is faithfulness and is able to rescue us from whatever our distressful situations may be, based on his past experience with God.
David knew that God was and is the source of all comfort and peace in the midst of war within or without. David knew that God was in the past and is now. David had an assurance about who God was. The Sovereign God.
God has done some wonderful things in our live too. As uncomfortable and painful as stressful situations can be, they are some of the roads that God uses to increase our faith and put us on the path to His purpose for our lives.
Lastly, as David seek God in prayer in his time of distress, David petitions God for what he wants. He ask God to show him "mercy" and hear his "prayer".
I am not sure why David is asking for mercy. Maybe he may had brought on distress to himself, but whatever the reason may have been, David knew that God was a God of "mercy", therefore, He seek Him for it.
Believe it or not, our deliverance can be as easy as seeking God grace and mercy and telling Him all about our situation, which He is already aware of.
God does not want us to go around burdened down with the cares of the world. He wants us to seek Him and cast all our cares on Him. As a matter of fact, He bids us to come Him today.
Hebrews 4:16-w Let us then come with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Oh, the mercy of our God and how He is willing to give us the grace and mercy we all desperately stand in need of on today.
Are you in distress? This is a great time to connect with God. If you do, I guarantee you that you will find unlimited grace and mercy at His throne awaiting you.
A call to God in time of distress. Is this you on today?
If you call on the name of the Lord, He promises to hear and answer you. CALL ON HIM! He is waiting to hear from you for He already knows what you are going through.
Seek the Lord on today while He may be found.
God bless you and I love you all.
