Psalm 61:2-From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Has life's circumstances left you feeling overwhelmed, discouraged or defeated? Cry unto God for He promises to hear and answer your prayers.
David wrote this Psalm when he was on the run from his own son, Absalom who rebelled against David in his attempt to overthrown his kingship.
David felt helpless and unable to do anything about the situation while he was on the run. His heart was overwhelmed and he did not feel brave enough to fight with his own son, so he asked God for help, knowing that God was a “Rock” where he could run and hide and that a broken and contrite spirit will not be despise by God. Psalm 51:17 A broken spirit is my sacrifice, God. You won't despise a heart, God, that is broken and crushed.
David gives us the remedy for a confused mind and a broken heart that is unable to utter a word to God in time of brokenness and sorrow and that is "a cry to the Lord." A cry to The "Rock" that is higher than himself called "God Almighty."
This "Rock" that David seek shelter in is a "Rock" that is higher than you and I. A place of shelter beyond ourselves, where we all can run to. A place of prayer in our secret closet that is hidden away from all the cares of the world.
A secret place of grace and mercy where safety, healing, peace and comfort awaits your arrival after you have been bruised and battered by the troubles and cares of this cruel world. A "Holy" place of fellowship with God and you where you alone God hears.
Whatever it is that you may be going through on today people of God, remember that "PRAYER" is always available in every place, every circumstance and every condition of our heart. The Psalmist says "from the end of the earth will I cry unto you".
1 John 5:14 This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
Today, let David's prayer to God be your prayer. When your heart is overwhelmed, ask God to lead you to the "ROCK" that is higher than you. Isaiah 55:8-9 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.
Enter into your secret place on today and seek the Lord for the much needed mental and physical rest you stand in need of on today. God is always within reach. It does not matter how far you have strayed or fallen. God is never more than a prayer away.
If you come to Jesus today, I promise you that He will be that place of strength and defense that your heart cries out for on today.
