Proverbs 28:13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
Covering or confessing? Where are you with honesty to yourself concerning sin in your life?
The wisest man of all times, King Solomon declares in this text that a man or woman who covers their sins will not prosper. Another translation uses the word "succeed".
To the people around you and to the deceiving mind that satan has caused you to believe in, it may look like you are getting away with willful sin and that willful sin is ok, but when it is time to answer to God, all deception and lies will be exposed naked before God.
How is sin covered? It is covered when one seek to hide it, to justify it by excuses and live their lives full of lies and not the truth according to God's Word.
Sin is covered when you know to do what is right concerning your sins, but choose to continue on in your way of what is right and wrong in your own eyes.
The call to everyone of us on today is to "confess" and no longer "cover" up our sins. Expose them! God already knows about them anyway.
Scripture declares that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. “Cover” up is not the option to take, “confession” is.
If we are willing to “confess” our sins, scripture declares in 1 John 1:9 - If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, God is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose].
When we confess our sins, God shows us mercy. As a matter of fact, He showed us mercy for our sins over 2k years ago at Calvary when He placed the sins of the world upon His own Son, Jesus Christ who shed His blood for us, therefore, we have no need to “cover” them anymore, but to “confess” them.
What will you do on today with known sin? Will you continue to hide, lie about and deny them or will you be truthful to yourself and "confess" them to God?
I am not too proud to confess my sins to the Lord. I am determined that I am not going to deceive myself into believing and living the lies of satan concerning my soul, but to be convinced by the Word of God to "confess" and not conceal" my sins so that I may be shown “MERCY”.
You can cover them on earth before man, but when you stand before God at judgment, you will have no other choice but to "confess" and suffer the consequences of choosing to "cover" when you had the chance while you were alive to "confess".
2 Corinthians 5:10-For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.
Whatever your choice may be on today concerning “sin” in your life, remember this. Hebrews 4:13-Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
