Psalm 13:6 - I will sing the Lord’s praise, for He has been good to me.
KJV-I will sing unto the Lord, because He hath dealt bountifully with me.
David had enemies that desired to defeat Him and instead of seeking anything or anyone else, David sought the Lord. He sought salvation for his soul by faith in the Lord God. We see this in his cry for mercy in vs#3-4 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; 4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
In the scriptures prior to the above 2 verses, David, in the midst of adversity felt as though God had hidden Himself from him and that he had been abandoned by God because of what he was going through.
David had his time table in which he felt God should have showed up and God has His time table in David's life when He was gonna show up. Remember, God's timing is not always our timing.
When trouble comes our way, like David, instead of continuing to complain about the situation, we ought to seek God first.
This David who was previously complaining to God about his feelings of separation and abandonment is now trusting God and singing praises unto God.
What happened? Did David's circumstances changed? No, his view changed!
Even though David had yet to be delivered out of his situation, He sang praises to God and found the much needed peace and comfort he stood in need of.
David did not change to bring about this rest and peace he found n God, it was His view of his circumstances. His focus earlier in the text was on the problem and now He has shifted his focus to God's love and His faithfulness towards him in spite of what He may be going through..
Because David changed his view in what he was looking at, he went from a place of depression, confusion and disparity to a place of faith, peace, joy and praise.
When test and trials come, we must remember that God has not forgotten us. He has not abandoned us. We are His people, the sheep of His pasture. God will never leave us nor for sake us for He is the Lord our God who promises to be with us always, even unto the end.
What is it that you are going thru that has you asking God "how long" instead of singing praises unto Him? What or who is it?
Like David, we too must sing songs of praise in the midst of whatever it is that is causing our faith to be tested beyond what we believe we are able to bare. We know that God's Word declares that He will give us a way of escape to help us bear up under it.
When the going gets touch, the tough has to get going too.
Those times when it seems that God is distant, we must willfully and deliberately trust that God is all knowing, His eyes roams through the earth and are upon the righteous, His love for us is unfailing and He will never forsake us, even thought the enemy of our mind would often times have us to believe that.
We all at one time or another in our lives have felt forsaken or forgotten by God when we went our way in own efforts, trying to work life's issues apart from God.
God knows all about what we are going through. Hebrews 4:15-For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.
God calls us to persevere and endure difficulties, test and trials of life so that we can make it to our expected end that He has predestined for us.
We are shown just how to do that in this text. We overcome disparity through our faith in God, the Word of God and prayer.
There is a song that says "praise is what I do, when I am going through praise is what I do when I want to be close to you, praise I what I do whether happy or sad". I lift my hand in total praise to you.
People of God, know this: God is always present with us regardless of how strong the winds of life may blow, how hard the stormy sea may rage or how loud the trees may whistle.
Trusting in God's Sovereign power and ability is the place where God is calling all of us at on today.
Like David, God can turn our pain into joyful singing too. Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning.
Proverbs 3:5-6Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.
David sings to the LORD for giving him salvation and for dealing bountifully with him.
God had given David the oil of joy for his spirit of heaviness, and the garment of praise for his mourning. GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!!!!
Look at what a transformed mind by the power of the Holy Spirit can do! He can take us from sorrow to praise when our mind is stayed on Him!!!
Psalm 47:6-7, “Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises. 7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.”
Because the Lord has been good to you to and have dealt with you bountifully also, what are you doing for Him? Are you giving Him the praise, glory and honor He deserves. Are you worshiping Him and telling others about His boundless love, grace and mercy He wants to bestow upon them?
Is David's prayer your prayer on today? Will you sing the Lord's praises because He has bountifully bless you too? He is listening and waiting to hear from you on today.
I make my declaration on today that I, Debra Aiken, will sing the Lord;s praises for He has been bountiful unto me.
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for His immeasurable love towards you.
