John 12:46 - I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not remain in darkness.
In this text, Jesus identifies Himself as the "Light" of the World that removes darkness and brings salvation to all who would receive it by faith in Him.
In making this statement, Jesus is sending forth hope to those in darkness by revealing that His purpose for coming into the world is to be the "Light" of the world.
He is declaring that He is the only "LIGHT" that came into the world that is able to give sight to the blind. He is the only one that can penetrate darkness that is orchestrated by satan which separates man from God.
If “light” represents God, the source of spiritual life, then darkness represents everything God is not. It represents lies, evil, deceit, corruption, spiritual death, and on and on with one thing after another that is contrary to God’s Word.
The truth about “Light” and darkness is they cannot coexist.
Jesus is indeed the "Light” Of The World" and in Him is no darkness.
Apart from the “light of Christ, we live in spiritual darkness.
To be in spiritual" darkness" means to not know God and the things of God; it means to be ignorant of divine things.
How do we know when we are in the “Light’? Scripture says when we believe. To believe means to acknowledge the light of Jesus, turn toward it, and begin walking (living) in it by faith.
The sad news today is the fact this spiritual condition of darkness has been taken on by many. They have chosen to live their lives apart from God in spiritual darkness and are comfortable in doing so. They are blinded by satan and not even aware of it.
Unless the “Light” of the Gospel is grabbed ahold of by faith, many will lives will be lost forever in eternity if they die separated from God.
If you are living in spiritual darkness, what will it take for you to see the light of Christ? What will it take to bring you out of darkness into God’s marvelous light? What will it take???? Sickness, death or tragedy?
Why live in darkness when light is available? Jesus came to dispel the darkness, to expose it, to reveal it’s purpose and it’s intententions.
To walk in the light, all we have to do is believe in Christ and invite Him into our hearts.
Give me one good reason why you won't ask Christ into your life and live in the light of His love, His grace and His mercy? WHY?
Just like the people of Jesus’ day, we too have a choice to either accept His “Light” or reject it. The choice is ours.
The people of Jesus day saw the “Light”, they witnessed the miracle, signs and wonders. Many believed, but there were also many who preferred not to believe by hardening their hearts and remaing in darkness. For this reason, they could not believe for their hearts had become cold and callous.
What will your reaction be to that “Light” called Jesus?
This light that Jesus offers on today is available to all those who would believe by faith that He is the "Light" that they desperately stand in need of in order to not remain in darkness.
Jesus says in John 8:12-"I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life."
To go from darkness to light we must believe in Jesus. There is no light apart from Jesus so we must believe in Him.
To believe in Jesus is to believe He is the light. It is to believe He is the source of life now and in eternity.
To believe in Jesus is beyond mental belief, but also with our whole heart, mind body and soul.
James 1:22 "But don't just listen to God's Word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
In other words, faith is action. Faith produces something. It produces works. So if you are saying that by faith you have accepted Jesus as your personal "Light", there should be some biblical evidence of your faith.
If you are walking in the “Light” of Christ, there should be some fruit hanging from our branches. Jesus says in John 15:5- I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.
When a person comes out of darkness into the "Light" they have purposed in their hearts and mind that they are no longer operating in the world's affairs, but God affairs.
This person knows that God is able to help them do this by faith for scripture declares in Philippians 4:13- I can do all things through Christ[a] who strengthens me.
Today, Jesus is calling those in darkness to come out of it and enter into the light for it is in the light where life everlasting is found.
Are you operating in the “Light” of Christ? If not, the light is out in your earthly house. What happens in your house when the power goes out? You can not see in the dark!
In darkness, you stumble, fall and eventually end up hurting yourself because you are unable to see where you are going, but when you enter in the "Light" of Christ, the light is revealed and darkness is exposed and your way becomes clear.
If you had the cure for the worst disease or sickness in the world, would you believe in it and receive it? Well, all of humanity was born with the worse disease in the world called “sin” and Jesus came to earth to provide the cure called “Salvation” by faith in Him alone. Yes, Jesus has the cure for our horrible spiritual condition.
Indeed, the “Light” of Jesus shows the way out of darkness, for Light's purpose is to illuminate the darkness.
We have a promise in the Word of God that when we draw near to God, He will draw near to us.
The call today is to come out of spiritual darkness and enter into spiritual light.
Jesus is the light of the world. If we believe in Him and if we walk in His light, then we are reflectors of His light.
Matthew 6:16- "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Jesus came to save all of us. Those who once were in darkness and now walking in His spiritual light and those who are still yet walking in spiritual darkness.
Faith in Christ Jesus separates the light from the dark. Where have you placed your faith on today? Jesus or the world system?
When we accept Jesus by faith, we are transformed from spiritual darkness to spiritual Light, we are transitioned from spiritual death to spiritual life eternal with God in heaven.
What choice have you made today concerning God’s “Light”? Only you can answer this question.
