Mark 4:39-He rose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!”Then the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
Is your ship being tossed to and fro out on life's stormy sea called the world? If you answered yes to this question, I have some good news for you on today.
In the stormy sea of life, Jesus is the ONLY "Anchor" that holds. Do you have Him in your boat? He is willing to ride along with you in it if you would only invite Him in.
Jesus is the "Anchor" that holds in spite of the storm. He can firmly hold your ship on the stormy sea and prevent it from being carried away by the winds or the ocean current.
Life has a way of knocking us down, but with God's Holy Spirit living on the inside of us, we can and will make it.
The Holy Spirits helps us to bear up under life's storms. He helps us to take off the wet clothes called "trouble, sickness, hardships, etc" and helps us put on the appropriate attire called " Prayer and the Word of God" which enables us to keep roaring and keep steering until we reach God's peaceful shore where He awaits us there.
In this text, Jesus disciples found themselves in an unexpected storm at night on the open sea.
The disciples were sailing across the sea with no cares in the world, just doing what they normally do at sea, talking, laughing, sharing, listening to Jesus, thinking, and believing without any doubt that they would safely make it across the other side of the lake with no problems, but life did not happen that way for them that particular night.
In their sail across the lake, the disciples encountered a violent and unexpected storm that came upon them suddenly. Have you ever been there before? A time when you were going along in life with your daily task and all of a sudden, a storm arises on the home front. Have you ever been there people of God? I have many times.
On the sea that night, the lightning was flashing, thunder was rolling, the ship was being tossed to and fro, the waves were crashing over and against the boat, filling it rapidly with water.
Many of these Disciples were fishermen, but their skill and their experience on the water did not work for them that night. Danger was imminent and fear and hopelessness was indeed doing it's work in them too.
Fearing for their lives, the disciples went to Jesus who was alseep at the bottom of the ship and awaken Him with this cry "Lord, save us: we are perishing". Is this your cry unto the Lord on today?
The disciples realized that night that they needed a Savior. They needed an anchor in the storm. One that is able to steer every life in the midst of any storm, be it natural or spiritual.
Jesus is the anchor in the storm! He is the anchor that holds us even when the sails of our lives are torn.
Jesus is the "anchor" that holds in spite of the storm.
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I have no doubt that you have Him in your boat as your "Anchor" in life's stormy sea called the world.
Jesus Christ is the only "ANCHOR" in this life that can calm the violent wavers and currents of life that is guaranteed to come against you and I.
Jesus is the only "Anchor" in the stormy sea called life that can Save you from drowning.
The question to be answered on today is " WHERE IS JESUS IN LIFE? IS HE IN YOUR BOAT"? If not, you are guaranteed eternal death by drowning.
Seek the Lord on today while He may be found for indeed He is the only "ANCHOR" that can save on a stormy and raging sea.
I can only hope and pray that Jesus is your "ANCHOR" on today.
If you drown apart from His help, you will drown at the hands of "SELF."
