Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
The name of the Lord is on the lips of many, but how many are doing the will of God?
In this text, Jesus did not say all who says "Lord, Lord: wil enter the kingdom of heaven. What He does say is that all those who say it will NOT enter therein.
If not everyone, then who will enter? Jesus says it is those who does the will of the Father who is in heaven.
The people whose lives area spirit lead. Those who live a life that is characterized by obedience to the will of God for their lives according to scripture. Those who choose to live for God and not the world. Those who have confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, those who believe, receive and live a life in obedience to the Gospel truth.
It is the will of God for all of mankind to be saved. 2 Peter 3:9-The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness. But He is patient with us, because He does not want any to perish, but all to come to repentance.
There is an old saying that goes like this: "Everyone talking heaven ain't going there." Have you ever heard that before? Well, you have today in this text.
Jesus give us a description of the path that leads to eternity in heaven with the Father in John 14:6-Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus, the narrow way is the only entry into heaven. Therefore, we are commanded in Matthew 7:13- “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell[a] is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. 14 But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.
Crying "Lord, Lord" will not get you a seat in heaven. It is only those who do the will of the Father in heaven.
Jesus says in John 14:15-If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
We are saved by faith though grace and not of works should any man boast. Faith in God produces obedience to God's commands by the leading of the Holy Spirit who lives within us.
Any and everybody can cry “Lord, Lord”, but how many are putting forth effort daily in trying live in obedience to what He says in His Word? Talk all you want, but faith without action is dead. It is of no value.
A tree is known by it's fruit. What evidence is their in your life that shows you are bearing fruit for the Kingdom of God? How are you living your life? Who is your God? Who has first place in your life? You or God?
As we strive daily to do the will of God in obedience to His commands and not only from words from our mouth, we will see just how much more we need God's help and His forgiveness. It is only through Him that we can enter into the kingdom of heaven.
The sad news is that many today have been lead to believe that there are many ways to God and that they can live and do as they please and their end will eventually lead them back to a seat in God's king in heaven when they transition from earth to eternity.
Here is how the bible described them in the old testament and this same description is once again being played out in our world today in the lives of many on the wide road to destruction.
Let's listen to Luke 17:26-29 -“Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27 They were eating, drinking, marrying, and were given in marriage until the day when Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 “Likewise as it was in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built. 29 But on the day that Lot departed from Sodom, fire and brimstone rained from heaven and destroyed them all.
Matthew 15:8-These people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me.
Jesus declares on today that only those who do the will of the Father will enter the Kingdom of God in heaven.
Where are you at in your relationship with God? Are you living your life in obedience to what He commands of you in His Word called the "Bible"? Is it your plan to spend eternity in heaven with God?
If you continue to keep God on your lips and not in your heart you will eventually realize at the end of this journey called life that the only thing mattered was what we did for Christ. Nothing else will matter!
in vs# 22-27 of this same text, Jesus declares these words. ‘On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
There are many today who are still crying out "Lord, Lord" with their mouth and believe that in doing so they are right with God, but Jesus said then and now that they are those who work iniquity.
Those whose works are in contrast to the works of God will NOT inherit the kingdom of God according to Jesus.
If you are living your life to please the flesh and not to enter the kingdom of heaven one day with God, where will you spend eternity? What will God's word to you be? Will it be "enter in my child and find rest" or will it be "depart from me for I know you not"?
As believers, we have an assurance of eternity with God in heaven. The Holy Spirit is our (seal), down payment of that assurance of whatis to come for us as believers.
If you have not accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior, you have no assurance on today of eternity in heaven with God the Father. You only have an assurance of eternal separation.
The good news is that if you are reading this blog, it is not too late for you to get into the will of God for your life for God offer salvation to all that would receive. The price has already been paid and there is nothing for you to do but to accept God's atoning work for your sin at Calvary through His Son Jesus Christ shed blood as full payment for your sins.
Romans 10:9-10 This is the word of faith that we preach: 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved, 10 for with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Today is the day to do God’s will if you plan on entering into the kingdom of heaven to spend eternity with Him.
If your plans are to do what is right in your eyes and remain separated from God now and in eternity, you are without excuse. You have been told the truth on today, therefore, there is no more excuse for your sins.
John 15:22-If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.
Remember, the cry of "Lord, Lord" will NOT get you a seat in God's kingdom. It is only through the will of God for your life and obedience to the Word of God in your life that guarantees you eternity in heaven with the Father.
Where will the cry "Lord, Lord" lead you? Jesus told us that it will NOT lead everyone to God in heaven.
You have a decision to make on today.
God's will or your will? I wonder which one you will choose? I can only hope and pray that you will choose the one that leads to life everlasting with our Father in heaven.
