Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Scripture declares that life and death are in the power of the tongue. What we speak we shall have, therefore, watch the words you speak to self or others.
Words are incredibly powerful. Believe it or not but words can build up, bless, curse, encourage, and motivate or they can also tear down, hurt, and cause horrible scars.
Proverbs 15:4 - A soothing tongue [speaking words that build up and encourage] is a tree of life, but a perversive tongue [speaking words that overwhelm and depress] crushes the spirit.
Today, make your mouth a fountain of life and not death. Be slow to speak and swift to hear. Seek opportunities to speak kind, tenderhearted words that build up and not tear down. Encourage more and criticize less.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no unwholesome word proceed out of your mouth, but only that which is good for building up, that it may give grace to the listeners.
What are you speaking? Are the words you speaking producing life or death? Are you building up or tearing down? Are you giving hope or discouragement?
As Christians our goal is not to hurt but help, not to tear down but to build up. How are you operating as a Christian? What are your words saying to those you encounter on a daily basis?
When others leave your presence, can they truly say that they have been blessed by the words that came out of your mouth? Think about it!
Let today be the day that you purpose in your heart that you will be a person whose mouth is full of life and not death by refraining from attack words.
Remember, life and death is in the power of the tongue and those that love it shall eat its fruit.
Sweet or bitter fruit? Which are you eating and sharing?
