Luke 12:8-9 I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him will the Son of Man also confess before the angels of God. 9- But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.
As a new Christian, one of the first things that we all must come to grip with is the that people who are familiar with us will not easily accept the fact that we choose to follow and confess Christ and turn our backs on the world and all it's pleasures.
One strong hold that the enemy uses when this happen is "other people opinion" of you. When this happens, you have a choice to make between the people's opinion of you or your relationship with God. BOTTOM LINE!
There is no in between place with God. Either you are for Him or against Him. Let’s listen to what Jesus says in Matthew 12:30-"Anyone who isn't with me opposes me, and anyone who isn't working with me is actually working against me.”
Jesus was not well received by his own people while he was on earth for scripture says in John 1:11-He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him.
Many of the people that Jesus dwelt among did not accept Him as "God" in the flesh, but as a Prophet sent by God. Many men of his day denied Him before others through their rejection of Him.
Jesus performed one miracle after another, he healed the sick and gave sight to the blind, He fed the multitude, He taught in the synagogues and by the seas on many occasions, He often preached from a floating pulpit called a boat, He raised the dead and saved the spiritually lost.
Even after all the signs, wonders and miracles Jesus performed, many people who were around during his stay on earth still refuse to acknowledge Him.
Let us not look to hard and deep into the hearts of those who did not acknowledge Jesus because many today are still doing the same in their refusal to acknowledge Him in fear of " other people’s opinion".
They are ashamed to be associated with Jesus in public, but attempt to confess Him with their mouth when they find a need for Him when chaos is breaking loose in their lives. Jesus describes them like this in Matthew 15:8 "'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
Everyone who comes face to face with Christ (via media, radio, tv, internet, church, Preacher, etc.) must do one of two things concerning Him. They must either confess Him or deny Him. There is no neutral ground.
Peter's confession to Jesus before men was, "You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God."
Our confession of Jesus is to be made before others too. It is for them to both see and hear.
The Apostle Paul declares in Romans 1:16-For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. For it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
The call today is to confess Christ before men with our mouth and in our actions. If we choose not to, Jesus says "He will deny us before the angels of God.
Our confession we are called to is not about our church affiliation, our family heritage, our color, our nationality, our status in society or in the church, our titles in the world or anything else, but our confession of Jesus Christ as Lord in our lives.
Another good reason to confess Jesus is so that we may hear Him confess us before the Father's throne one day. But if we deny Him, then He will deny us.
Those who acknowledge Jesus before men that have been filled with His Holy Ghost power from on high are called Christ "witnesses". Acts 1:8- But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Are our words and actions convincing others that we are people of God? What are others seeing and learning from you about Christ through your words and actions?
Does our life living tells the world that we know Jesus and that we have been in His presence?
Acknowledging Jesus means that we acknowledge Him as the “Sovereign God”, we acknowledge and submit in obedience to his “Kingship” over our lives, His teachings, His truth (bible), His ways, and His instructions to name a few.
To acknowledge Jesus before people is to be open and honest about our total life commitment to him. We must live our lives completely for Jesus.
We do not live our lives for the opinions of others. We do not live our lives to keep critics nor opposition at bay. We live for Jesus regardless of the consequences.
If we live for Jesus like this, then when we stand in judgment, Jesus will claim us. If we deny him by giving in to human pressure, then Jesus will deny us.
Not only must we not fear telling the world that we love Jesus and that we are His disciples, but that because of our love for Him, we will no longer willfully pursue words and actions that are against Him.
Is other people's opinion causing you to fearfully not acknowledge Jesus before men? If you answered yes to this question, Jesus says this to you in Luke 12:4-5 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Jesus is sending forth a warning in this text. True disciples are God-pleasers, not people pleasers. The only fear that should control our lives is a fear of God and His word.
Are you acknowledging Jesus or denying Him before men? This question stands straight in the face of everyone of us on today. We all must give an answer to this question.
Well, if you have been lead to believe that this question does not apply to you and therefore you do not have to answer it, let me remind you that you have already answered it in your refusal to do so.
The good news on today is the truth that there is no "straddling" the fence with Jesus. Either you are in His will for your life or you are out of His will for your life. No one can operate in 2 places at the same time.
In or out, wheat or tear, sheep or goat, for Him or against Him?
Acknowledging or denying Jesus? Where do you stand on today? For Christ or against Him? Where are you in your heart of heart?
Ponder these questions on today. The answer to them will help you prepare for your eternal destination. Yes, you will be the only one to choose where you will spend eternity.
God bless you all.
