Psalm 86:11 Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I will walk in Your truth;bind my heart to fear Your name.
In this Psalm, David asked God to "teach him his way so that he may be able to walk in God's truth and to direct his heart to reverence and submission to God alone".
Is this your prayer on this morning? Do you want God's divine direction guiding your life? Do you want to walk in the truth of His Word and reverence Him as our Lord and Savior?
God can and is willing to teach us His way if we are like David, willing to admit that we do not know the way.
God has a lot to say about which path we should take in this life. There is only two paths and each of us are on one or the other by choice.
Let's look at the different paths in life we are told to take and not to take and where each one leads. Both paths are listed in the old and the new Testaments. Let's listen.
Proverbs 4:14-17 Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not go in the way of evil men. 15 Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and pass on.16 For they do not sleep unless they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away unless they cause some to fall. 17 For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter at the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who are going through it,14 because small is the gate and narrow is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
We are given a choice as to which path God prefers for us to take and which path we choose to take.
David's prayer and his desire is to take the path that God desires for all of us. The path that leads to righteousness and life everlasting with Him.
If we are willing to be taught, God is willing to teach us. Understand the fact that God has all kinds of methods in which we can be taught. Sometimes it is in good circumstances, bad circumstances, through the rains and thunders of life, through storms of life, through other people, through calamity and on and on.
God can use anything or anyone to accomplish His purpose in our lives. The thing to remember is when God is teaching us, he is also with us for He promises to never leave us nor forsake us, but to be with us always, even unto the end.
God gives us the truth of His Word through His bible that we may conform our lives to it and teach others to do the same. It is the Lord's will that none should perish, but that all come to repentance.
In order for God to teach us we must be willing to listen for His voice. David asked God to " bind or unite his heart to fear God's name." This tells me that David is declaring that he will listen so that he may hear from God. You and I must obediently do the same in hearing from God.
In other words, be determine to daily seek a place of quietness in mind, body and spirit where you and I can shut out all the noise from the world.
One thing for sure which we must remember is the fact that satan will put forth every effort to keep you band I usy and in tune with all the static of the world so we will not hear from God, but you must purpose in your heart that hearing from God is your daily goal and you will do whatever it take to accomplish it daily.
David is being honest with God in admitting that he was unable to clearly hear from God and that his heart was disconnected from God and that he wanted to reconnect so that he may be able to worship, fellowship and commune with God with his whole heart, soul, mind and strength.
Because of our sin nature, we have been disconnected from God and we are in need of being reconnected back to Him through faith in Christ Jesus and His Word that is written in His bible.
In other words, David is sending forth a prayer request for full restoration in his relationship with God. He knows that it starts with being taught of God, obeying God's truth and having his heart directed to full submission and reverence to God.
Whatever it is that is hindering you from a personal relationship with God on today, do as David did in asking God through prayer to remove everything that is hindering you from having a personal relationship with Him.
Pray and ask God for forgiveness of your sins and ask God to unite your heart with His through the power of the Holy Spirit.
When we have truly given up the fight against God, He will teach us His way, He will help us walk in His way by way of the Holy Spirit's guidance and He will put the desire in our hearts to reverence, worship and serve Him with our whole heart in spirit and in truth.
Let our daily prayer to God the Father be that He keep our hearts united with His so that we may do that which is pleasing and acceptable in His sight.
Is it your desire to be taught of God and walk in His truth? If so, cry out to God in prayer and He will do just that for you.
God bless you all.
