Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Has the troubles of life left you feeling week and without strength?
Are you overwhelmed by adversity and the troubles of life? Is this the mindset in which you arose this morning?
Well, If I just described you, I have some good news for you on today and that is the fact that you woke up and that God has supplied you with sufficient grace and mercy on today.
Knowing that, you must believe and not doubt that the same God has the "POWER" to break every chain of defeat and hopelessness that you have allowed to enter your mind.
Whatever extreme situation or circumstance you may find yourself in this day or any day, God has already given you a way of escape through His Word and prayer.
Regardless of what it is that is tormenting your mind now or in the future, God wants you and I to know that He is our "Refuge and a Strength" in the midst of it. He is a place where we can run and hide and be safe.
Nothing that we will ever go through or have gone through is too great for our God to handle.
When Sarah was barren at 90 years old, God made a promise of a son to Abraham that he and Sarah would have a son. God knowing his thought about his and Sarah's age, responded to Moses with the same question I put before you on today and that is "is there anything too hard for the Lord"?
Nothing is too hard or impossible for God! Scripture declares that with God all things are possible. God is well able and sufficiently capable of delivering us from all our fears and troubles.
I know without a doubt that if you seek refuge in the Lord, you will not only find rest but you will also find everlasting peace and strength to endure.
The peace of God that surpasses all understanding and the peace of God that is able to go with you through any storm, struggle, trial test or trouble in life.
When we learn to lean and depend on Jesus who is the Author and Finisher of our faith for whatever it is that we need, we can face the worst of trouble with confidence in knowing that He is right there with us and He promises to never leave us.
The psalmist of this text was seeking shelter from His enemies and He knew exactly where to run to. Therefore, he makes it clear to you and I on today that this same God is available to us too if we would only trust Him and seek Him with our whole heart.
It is in our weakness where God is strong. It is in our weakness where we can find strength in Him to withstand the journey of troubles that life often throws at us.
In his time of pain and trouble the Apostle Paul also often seek the Lord. At a time when he had what is only known as a "thorn in the flesh", he seek God for removal of it and God did not remove what was troubling him, but God gave him strength to endure it and sometimes that is what he does with us too.
Let's listen to what God said to the Apostle Paul when he complained to God about what was troubling him in 2 Corinthians 12:8-9I asked the Lord three times that this thing might depart from me. 9 but He said to me "my grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness". Therefore most gladly I will boast in my weakness, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
God's goal in the life of the believer is not comfort but conformity.
The goal is to conform us into the likeness of Christ and that process, unfortunately, is not worked out without pain and suffering.
Jesus Himself declares in John 16:33 “I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”
Christians are not promised a trouble free life, but the reward for it is "great" in eternity.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.
Standing in need of help in your time of trouble on today? God promises to be a refuge and strength to you on today if you would only seek Him.
Help is available to you today, but it requires you turning to Jesus who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all you could ask or think according to your faith.
If you seek the Lord on today, He promises to be your refuge and strength; your very present help in your troubles.
God bless and do tell the Lord thank you for being a very present help.
