Matthew 8:8 The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But speak the word only, and my servant will be healed.
As Jesus entered Capernaum, He was met by a centurion man (the commander of a century in the ancient Roman army) who came to Him pleading and begging on behalf of one of his servant that was sick with paralysis and terribly tormented by it .”
In hearing the man's plea, Jesus agreed to go with him to his house, for He said “I will come and heal him.”
The centurion replied back to Jesus with these words "“Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But speak the word only, and my servant will be healed.
The faith of this Centurion man is one of confidence and assurance in the One in whom he is conversing with.
Having made Capernaum His place of residence after leaving His hometown of Nazareth, Jesus had spent much time in Capernaum.
I am sure this Centurion had either seen or heard of the miracles that Jesus had performed and that based on what he had seen or heard, he had no doubt that Jesus was God in the flesh.
The Centurion believed in Jesus for the scripture said he went directly to Jesus. Nothing is mentioned about him having gone to Jesus after having already gone to others. Scripture said Jesus had just entered Capernaum and He was metby him.
Jesus was the Centurion first choice and not his last option! Did you hear that? Jesus was his first choice? Is he your first choice or your last resort? Who is Jesus to you?
The Centurion, being a man under authority, knew that Jesus was a Man under God's authority and that He was able to do the impossible.
The faith of this Centurion was so great. His faith was stretched to the point that he believed that Jesus did not have to come to his house to heal his servant, but all He had to do was speak a “Word” and it shall be done. Oh, what great faith!!!!
Oh, what great hope this Centurion man give all of us on today in showing us what great faith can do when God is in it.
Jesus, being moved with compassion by such great faith of this Centurion, spoke to him with these words "“Go your way. And as you have believed, so let it be done for you.”
That day in Capernaum, the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, the Great Physician, the Author and Finisher of our faith, met a man of great faith and in turn performed a much needed miracle on behalf of his servant.
That day in Capernaum, a man who encountered Jesus in a state of desperation departs in a state of rejoicing for He had seen the Lord in a way that He had never seen Him before.
Without a doubt, the Centurion knew that Jesus was "The God Of The Impossible".
Oh, what a day of rejoicing that must have been!
Scripture declares in vs#11 that the Centurion's servant was healed that very moment when Jesus spoke it.
GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!!!! HALLELUJAH TO THE LAMB OF GOD!!!
Hebrews 11:6- And without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Having the faith to believe God for the impossible! Are you there yet? Can you take the Word of God and believe it as your own in your situation?
If you could only believe that when your faith and God's power connect, you too will see a miracle performed on your behalf by our God who is the God of the impossible.
