Mark 6:1-6 He went away from there and came into His own country. And His disciples followed Him. 2 When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get this? What is this wisdom that is given Him, that even miracles are done by His hands? 3 Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary and the brother of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?” And they took offense at Him.
4 Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own relatives, and in his own house.” 5 He could not do any miracles there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And He was amazed because of their unbelief.
Unbelief concerning Jesus is where you find yourself on today?
Questioning and doubting after seeing evidence after evidence that has proven itself in your life over and over again that Jesus is the Son of God, who is also God in the flesh?
Unbelief? Jesus was rejected by many from birth and is still being rejected today because man choose not to believe that He is the Messiah.
Many people choose to believe that Jesus is not the promised one from God.
The "ONE" (God Himself in the form of Christ) that God said that he would send to "SAVE" His people, the one who will come and came to proclaim good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom to the prisoners, give sight to those that are blind, and to set free those that are oppressed.
For three years during His public ministry Jesus proclaimed who He was and performed WONDERFUL WORKS with proof that God the Father had sent Him, including dying on a Cross for the sins of humanity, yet many still choose not to believe.
Throughout His ministry Jesus went from town to town, villages to villages, city to city performing one miracle after another.
Signs and wonders followed Him and were seen in every city and town He entered, either through His teachings and the miracles He was performing right before the eyes of the very people who doubted who He was.
This text that is before us is a prime example of having the evidence put before us and yet choosing to reject Jesus, the one who came to save us.
As was His customs on the Sabbath, Jesus entered the Synagogue in His hometown of Nazareth where He began to teach with such great power and authority that the people were amazed to the point of questioning one another in this manner "“Where did this Man get this? What is this wisdom that is given Him, that even miracles are done by His hands? "
Having seen God in the flesh, the people still refuse to accept Jesus, but instead choose to take offense, reject and discredit Him by saying Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary and the brother of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?”
Like our world today, evidence of God is everywhere, yet men still choose not to believe, but rather to reject, deny, discredit and say "there is no God!"
God's word declares in Romans 1:20-For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, because they are understood through what has been made. So people are without excuse.
In other words, even if man chooses not to believe there is a God, creation proves that God is real, for through creation, God's eternal power and divine nature is clearly seen, therefore, man can reject, deny, discredit or reject God all he or she wants, but God Himself declares that there will be no excuse for the "unbelief" regardless of the reason.
The truth of the "Gospel" is being received by many today, but there is also many who are still rejecting it.
Jesus was at home in Nazareth and was still rejected. Who knows us better than our own town people? To reject truth with evidence that is placed in your midst is a sad and dangerous place to be.
Because the people chose to focus on Jesus family background and not on His "Kingship" as "King of Kings and Lord of Lord", the town people missed one of the greatest opportunity of a life time.
The people of Nazareth missed the opportunity to be personally touched by the hands of God all because of unbelief.
Where has "unbelief" lead you on today? Has it lead you to reject the truth of Gods' Word? Has it lead you to believe that you alone has the answers to your life and not God?
Where has unbelief lead you?
Jesus in this text speaks of the amazement He had in seeing the condition in which "unbelief" and taken over the hearts and minds of the people of in his hometown of Nazareth.
Many that were sick, bound, broken, wounded, mentally captive were left in that state all because of "unbelief."
Unbelief was a choice back then and it still is today!
Having access to God's Holy Word called the "bible" is of no benefit to many because of "unbelief."
Everything needed for life and living can be found in God's Word, but because of "unbelief" many today are not seeing the manifested miracles of God in their lives.
Believe it or not, but the "rejection" signs hangs long and wide in America and around the world today.
I believe the worse and most painful rejection of the "Gospel" comes from the rejection of those that we love and care about. Those that are near and dear to us, those that are from our hometown, those that work with us, those that live with us, those in our communities and inner circles.
The pain of knowing that many lives could be changed and transformed by the Holy Spirit and made alive by the washing or regeneration thorough the Word of God is a hard pill to swallow for many who have loved ones that have rejected Christ.
Because of "unbelief and rejection of Christ", many are sick, but are convincing themselves that they are well.
Jesus said He could only heal a few because many chose not to "believe" and were therefore left in the same spiritual and physical state He found them in on that day.
Rejection and Unbelief! What havoc is it working in your life on today? Where is it leading you? Where has it lead you?
Overtaken by rejection and unbelief? Be honest with yourself!
If you are tired, weary and wounded by the cares of the world all because of unbelief and rejection of the Gospel, God is calling your name on today. There is hope for you on today!
All that are in need of rest in the Savior's arms, God bids you to come right now from where you are.
Matthew 11:28-29 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29-Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
There is a cure for "unbelief and rejection" that is called "JESUS CHRIST"!
Will you receive Him on today?
