2 Chronicles 20:15-And he said, “Pay attention all Judah, and those dwelling in Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not fear, nor be dismayed because of this great army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
Having spiritual battles? Did you awaken this morning to a raging storm in your life? Feeling like your enemies are too great in size?
The Word from the Lord to all of us on today is the "battle is not ours for it belongs to God."
The Lord hands are not too short and there is NOTHING too hard for Him.
There are some battles in this life that God will allow us to fight to learn some things while He watches and protects us in them and then there are some battles that are too big for us that God says "I, THE LORD YOUR GOD WILL FIGHT THIS ONE FOR YOU."
This text is part of a passage of scripture that not only gives us hope, peace and comfort in the midst of life's battles that are raging against us on a daily basis, but it also gives us the instructions for a victorious battle with God.
In this text, God's people, King Jehoshaphat, Judah and Jerusalem were threatened by an onslaught of enemies described as a multitude of them who were headed to the territory of God's people to attack and destroy them, unbeknown to them.
The good news is this: GOD KNEW THEY WERE COMING!! GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!!! GOD KNEW!!
God is the Sovereign God of the universe and NOTHING catches Him by surprise!
Being the man of God he was, Jehoshaphat did not gather up the physical army along with weapons and artillery, but instead, he and God's people girded themselves with up God's "spiritual army" weaponry in the midst of evil.
They girded their minds with peace and confidence in the Word of God through faith so that they could extinguish all the fiery arrow that was being shot at them mentally to cause them to panic.
Being warned of the enemy at their front door, the first thing King Jehoshaphat did was call all the people together as a unified nation to fast and then pray to God who was their God in whom they had a covenant relationship.
Scripture declares that some things come only by fasting and praying and this is exactly what we see in 2 Chronicles 20.
Jehoshaphat knew what to do in the time of battle. He seek God first through prayer. He reverence God as "God in heaven who rules over all the kingdoms of the nations and in whose hands is ALL POWER." He goes on to remind God of His promise to His people.
People of God, are there enemies all around you? Stop fighting your battles with weapons of words of no effect, but do what God's people in this text did by picking up your spiritual weapons called "prayer and the Word of God" and do battle on your knees with God. who will guarantee us a GREAT victory over our enemies.
In the midst of His people while they were yet praying, God showed up and spoke these profound words to His people in vs#15- Pay attention all Judah, and those dwelling in Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not fear, nor be dismayed because of this great army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s."
When you finish reading the rest of this text, you will see and have no doubt that God had fought this battle as you picture in your mind from the words of scripture as to what happen to the enemies of God's people.
What happened to the enemies of Gods people? THEY SELF DESTRUCT!!
God is using your enemies to show them God through you!
When the people of God went out to the battlefield, When they began singing and praising, the Lord set ambushes against Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were defeated.
God confused the enemies and they all were killed.
The story did not end there. Guess what else happened? The people of God was awarded doubt for their trouble for not only did God won the battle on their behalf, but they found among them an abundance of riches with the corpses, and precious jewelry, which they took for themselves, more than they could carry. They were gathering the plunder for three days because there was so much to carry.
GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!! LOOK AT OUR GOD!!
People of God, fear not those who do evil! Trust God for the battle is not your, it belongs to God!
Battles raging in your life? Stop fighting your way. Faith in God changes EVERYTHING!
STOP FIGHTING FOR THE BATTLE HAS BEEN FOUGHT AND THE VICTORY HAS ALREADY BEEN WON AT CALVARY.
