Ephesians 5:15-17-MEV- See then that you walk carefully, not as fools, but as wise men, 16 making the most of the time because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:15-17 AMP-Therefore see that you walk carefully [living life with honor, purpose, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil], not as the unwise, but as wise [sensible, intelligent, discerning people], 16 [a]making the very most of your time [on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each opportunity and using it with wisdom and diligence], because the days are [filled with] evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish and thoughtless, but understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is.
The writer of this text send forth a strong warning to the people of God. "Be very careful how you live your life, but most of all, know the will of God for your life and live it out."
In other words, evaluate and make good use our time here on earth in living out God's intended purpose for your life and in doing so, you will walk as one with "wisdom" and not as one who is considered a "fool" in the eyes of God.
Living a life of wisdom starts with a personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ by faith.
What really mattes in life is what God sees. It is God who searches the heart, it is God who judges man according to the issues of his or her heart for scripture declares these words in Luke 6:45-A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
To walk wisely means to walk by faith according to the leading of God's Holy Spirit who leads and guides us on God's path of truth and righteousness for His name sake.
As people of God, we must submit to God's Holy Spirit and allow Him to lead us to where God would have us to go and to help us in our choice of personal relationships with others and in doing so, we will be redirected away from dangerous pitfalls and traps that the enemy has set for us.
We will never walk the path of "wisdom" or even know how to get where God wants us to be without God's Word.
Proverbs 2:6-8 All wisdom comes from the Lord, and so do common sense and understanding. 7 God gives helpful advice[a] to everyone who obeys him and protects all of those who live as they should. 8 God sees that justice is done, and he watches over everyone who is faithful to him.
Psalm 14:1-A fool says in his heart that there is no God. A "fool", one who does not fear God or man lives according to what is right in his or her own eyes and ends up in a ditch.
People of God, we are also warned in scripture to stay away from fools. Let's listen to Proverbs 14:7-Stay away from fools, for you won't find knowledge on their lips.
As we daily seek and yield in obedience to God through the reading and study of His word, we will hear His voice as He reveals Himself to us.
Our enemy, satan is a liar, a deceiver, crafty and he is very dangerous. He seeks to destroy our soul. 1 Peter 5:8-Be sober and watchful, because your adversary the devil walks around as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
The evil devices of satan is hidden everywhere and his evil spirit is hidden in many people, therefore people of God, be very careful, be alert and be wise in your choices and in how you live.
Be ye "Wise" through the lense of scripture and not your own eyes.
Living a life of a "fool" is not an option for the believer. Our only choice is "wise" in the eyes of God by making godly choices and using the time that God has allot us here in our short stay here on earth to bring glory and honor to God alone.
With the help of God's Holy Spirit we can be lead on a straight course and live a life that honors God and gives light to this dark and evil world in which we live.
The call to the people of God today is " live a life worthy of your calling, be imitators of God, live as children of light, discern the will of God and live by it through the Spirit."
People of God, the world is watching us who confess Christ, therefore "wise" must be our walk so that we can reflect Christ and be effective witnesses in the earth of God's saving "Grace."
The life we live, the words we speak, the service we give, even to our enemies who have wronged us, will reveal to them and the world around us that we are truly the children of God.
Reminder: a foolish man doesn't care how he conducts himself, but a wise man does. Being careful in how we live as "wise" and not as "fools" truly shows true wisdom of God.
Jesus declares these words to all of us in Matthew 7:24,26 -Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 26-But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
Everyone of us is either living our lives as one of "wise" or as a "fool."
It is the will of God that we live as "wise." 2 Peter 3:9b-He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
Build your hopes on thing eternal for that is the only way to live life as "wise" and not as a "fool."
Matthew 6:19-21 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Living as "wise" or as a "fool"? How are you living? Is truth and wisdom only seen through your eyes and not through the Word of God? Where do you draw the line? Does a life of a "fool" stops with you?
