2 Samuel 22:1-3 Now on the day the Lord delivered him from the hand of all of his enemies and from the hand of Saul, David spoke to the Lord the words of this song. 2 He said: The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; 3 the God of my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my fortress and my sanctuary; my Savior, You save me from violence.
David wrote his testimony in a song to the Lord his God after He had delivered Him out of the hands of His enemies and from the hands of evil King Saul.
After having killed the giant Goliath, David had become an enemy and wanted man. It started first with King Saul after David God used David to slay a giant called "Goliath" of the Philistine army who was Israel's enemy.
In 1 Samuel 18 after his victory against the Philistines and having returned home from battle, Saul, David and the army of men were met by a crowd of women who came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with timbrels and lyres in celebration and began to sing "Saul has killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands!" This made Saul very angry. What's this?" he said. "The people credited David with ten thousands and me with only thousands. Next they'll be making him their king!"And from that time on Saul kept a close eye on David.
The next day an evil spirit from God came forcefully on Saul. He was prophesying in his house, while David was playing the lyre, as he usually did. Saul had a spear in his hand and he suddenly hurled it at David, intending to pin him to the wall. But David escaped him twice.
After this victory in battle, David had gained many enemies. He had often been on the run from King Saul who was jealous of him and wanted him dead. While on His run from Saul for years, David had an opportunity to kill him but he did not.
When God finally delivered David from all his enemies and King Saul, David sang a "SONG " of God's deliverance in thanksgiving to God. Here are the words that David spoke to the Lord concerning his divine protection and deliverance from his enemies.
David declared these words in song to His God who is his deliverer. (1) You are my rock and my deliverer. In other words, you are my strong tower and defense against my enemies. (2) You are the God of my strength. In other words, apart from you I am weak and can do nothing. It was your strength that gave me victory over my enemies when I was weak. (3) My trust is in you alone for Thou alone art God. In other words, victory belongs to you alone God for you are a Mighty Warrior. (4) You are the rock where I am safe. You are my shield, my powerful weapon, and my place of shelter. You rescue me and keep me from being hurt.
After a time of great temptation, testing, trial and suffering, David remembered who it was that had given him victory and delivered him from the hands of his enemies. It was the Lord His God!
What is your song of deliverance to the Lord for what He has done for you?
What has God done for you that would give you a burning desire to sing songs of praise and thanksgiving to Him for delivering you out of the hands of your enemies?
David cried out to the Lord and He heard him and delivered him. What about us? Have we cried out to the Lord lately for help? Or, are we trying to figure it out on our own?
If God has done anything for you, I know there is a song of deliverance inside of you.
The question on today is if there is a song of praise and thanks to the Father for all he has done for you "will you sing it unto the Lord on today?"
I EXALT THEE O LORD FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE IN PROTECTING ME FROM THE HANDS OF THE ENEMY.
