Proverbs 16:7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Peace=eirēnē in the greek and is defined as peace, quietness, peace of mind, peace between individuals, i. e. harmony.
Peace is something that everyone around the world seems to be looking for these days. The search for it has always been since creation and the search continues on today for it from mankind around the world.
We will always have enemies. Either from within our own circle, our own family or from without by those who choose to oppose us for no reason, but be not surprised when the attacks come for we are reminded in 2 Timothy 3:12-Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
Being hated and attacked by the enemy is nothing new. Jesus knew it first hand and He Himself declared that He was hated for no reason.
Jesus declared these words in John 15:25b-They hated me without cause.
People of God, the servant is definitely not greater than the Master. If He suffered at the hands of the enemy, we will too.
The blessing in this text is "when a man's ways pleases the Lord."
The question before all of us on today is "who do we or who is it that we are striving to please the most in our life? Is it your spouse, your family, your children, your boss or yourself? Who is it? Is it God?
Psalm 146:3- Don't put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there.
Unfortunately, many in this world in which we now live have come to the conclusion that "pleasing man" is more important than pleasing God. The sad part about man pleasers is that these folks are constantly dealing with is a spirit of anger, constant unrest and no peace.
Regardless of the pressure to conform to the world in pleasing man and not God, scripture begs to differ. It is better to please God than man.
The Apostle Paul himself declares in Galatians 1:10 that if his goal was to please man, he would not be a servant of Christ.
Colossians 3:23-And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.
Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
Jeremiah 17:5- Thus saith the LORD; Cursed [be] the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
I have no doubt that all of us desires to be at peace with our enemies. Jesus is the only way that this is possible. It is in Him that we live, move and have our being, not man.
We are reminded in scripture today that the only way to have true "peace" with our enemies is to live our lives in a way that pleases God and not man.
People of God, keep this in mind. Pleasing God does not mean that you won't have enemies because Jesus had them too. But, what it does means is that God will cause them to be at peace with you.
Trust God and watch Him move on your behalf. I have purposed in myheart to do just that, regardless of the attacks.
People of God, remember that "GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD"!
The enemy is already defeated! Christ obtained the victory over 2k years ago at Calvary.
Whatever your lot on today, "COUNT IT ALL JOY"!
People of God, you and Christ are the majority!
