Luke 1:26-35 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel came to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored. The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women.”
29 When she saw him, she was troubled by his words, and considered in her mind what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 Listen, you will conceive in your womb and bear a Son and shall call His name JESUS. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest. And the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, 33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. And of His kingdom there will be no end.”
34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
35 The angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you. Therefore the Holy One who will be born will be called the Son of God.
In this text, we see the fulfillment of Isaiah prophecy in what has been spoken to the virgin Mary by the Angel Gabriel who was sent by God to deliver a message to her that she would conceive a Son by means of the Holy Spirit and His name shall be called "JESUS".
Being troubled by this sudden appearance and overwhelming news and knowing that she had never been with a man, Mary displayed unwavering faith in a situation that would have caused many to say, "this makes no sense".
The point to drive home today is "she believed God"! She had no doubt that the message delivered to her from the Angel Gabriel was from the Lord God Himself. Her response proved it.
Where is your faith? Can you too say to the Lord's will for your life "I am your servant Lord, be it unto me according to your faith? Can we trust God to this level?
God is still speaking to His people today through His Word called the Bible and His Holy Spirit. Are we listening? Are we agreeing with God's will for our lives by show of our obedience to what He has spoken to us?
The conception message has been delivered! Jesus delivered the “salvation” message for us when he died and shed His blood for our sins.
The question to be asked is "how will we respond to God's message through Christ Jesus?"
