Luke 1:39-45 In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, 40 and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. 41 And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, 42 and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 And blessed is she who believed that there would be[a] a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”
Two women who are years different in so many ways. One a young teenage virgin girl who was betrothed to Joseph and the other is an old barren women married to a man name Zechariah.
Mary, the expectant virgin Mother of Jesus had just been visited by the Angel Gabriel who was sent from God with a divine message about a miracle that will supernaturally take place in her womb by God who would cause it to happen by means of His His Holy Spirit who will come upon her and overshadow her and shall cause her to conceive and bare a son and she SHALL call His name "JESUS".
Elizabeth, the barren older women who is beyond child bearing age is the wife of Zechariah the Priest. Both of them are described as being righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord.
While performing his Priestly duty, Zechariah was visited by an "Angel of the Lord' who told him that his wife Elizabeth would bare him a son, even though she was barren and old in age.
God through divine, supernatural intervention, would bring to life Elizabeth barren womb and she shall conceive through the seed of her husband Zechariah.
Mary's conception was by the Holy Spirit and Elizabeth conception was received from the seed of her husband Zechariah.
Both Elizabeth and Zechariah desired a child and we know this to be true because scripture declares that when the Angel visited Zechariah while he was performing his temple duty the angel said to him "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John."
Just like Mary, Elizabeth's husband Zechariah was also given specific instructions concerning this miracle child that would be born to him and Elizabeth.
Mary was instructed by the Angel Gabriel to name her child "JESUS" and Zechariah was instructed to name him and his wife's baby "JOHN" who would also be a special child set aside for God's use as the "FORERUNNER" for Christ who will be born after him.
To confirm the divine connection between these 2 miraculous conception and pregnancy of these 2 male children who both were conceived by way of a divine miracle from God, when Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth, who was 6 months pregnant, the baby that Elizabeth was pregnant with (John) leaped in his mother's womb at the sound of Mary's greetings.
LOOK AT OUR GOD! INDEED HE IS THE GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE!!
Elizabeth, being filled with the Holy Spirit, shouted out with a loud voice, these profound and power words in to Mary “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 And blessed is she who believed that there would be[g] a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”
WOW! This text is indeed a confirmation and a sign of the power of God and His spoken Word.
Two women and two miracles. Both believed and received what had taken place with them was without a doubt the divine hands of God.
Are you in need of a miracle on today? Do you need God's divine intervention in your situation?
We have been given proof in writing from the Word of God that "NOTHING" is impossible with Him.
Mary was a young virgin and Elizabeth was an old barren woman, but God performed a "MIRACLE."
Jesus reminds us ALL on today that nothing is impossible with Him. Luke 18:27-He said, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”
Two women and two miracles, but one in the same "GOD'!
Lord, where we may have doubt for our much needed miracle, please give us increased faith that we may believe and receive the much needed divine miracles in our lives too.
Two women and two miracles! Nobody but you Lord can bring to pass every word you speak.
Thank You Lord for you alone are our "FAITHFUL" God who alone performs what He speaks.
Thank You Lord for reminding us that with you all things are possible!
Your Servant Debra
