Luke 2:8-14 And in the same area there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And then an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were very afraid. 10 But the angel said to them, “Listen! Do not fear. For I bring you good news of great joy, which will be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign to you: You will find the Baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly there was with the angel a company of the heavenly host praising God and saying,14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, and good will toward men.
God in His infinite wisdom did not send His Angels to deliver the "birth announcement" of Jesus to the governor, the elite group of politicians, King Herod, the local Priests nor any of the Elders or the Religious Leaders of the church.
God sent forth Jesus birth announcement to "Shepherds" who were tending their flock by night.
Shepherds who were considered an outcast in society according to man, but NOT in the eyes of God.
Jesus birth announcement to these "Shepherds" proved and reminded us of the people that Jesus came to save.
The Gospel through Christ is made available to all regardless of status, position, title, race creed or ethnicity.
Yes, it was the lowly, the outcast and the not so popular people that Jesus came to save.
Mark 2:16-17 When the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?”
17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
Jesus came for ALL that would believe!
The Visitation:Imagine the fear and or terror of this visitation in the night as the sky lit up above these "Shepherds" and a voice from heaven being heard that came to them with reassurance that there was no need to fear for the Angelic Host said to them "we bring you good news of the Savior's birth and where you can find Him."
The angels gave specific information to the shepherd so there was no doubt as to who the Savior of the world is that has come.
The Shepherds were made aware that the "SAVIOR" was born in the city of David and that they would find Him lying in a manger, wrapped in swaddling clothing.
God's messages are always specific and clear. There will be NO doubt if you heard from God through His Holy Spirit. Clear and specific are His Words.
Having done what God told them to do in delivering Jesus birth announcements to the "Shepherds", the Angelic host of angels began to praise and sing “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, and good will toward men."
Oh, what a way to deliver God's message and to end it with a song of praise, glory and honor to our God.
The "Good News", the Gospel of Jesus Christ which bring peace and good tidings to all men is indeed a reason to rejoice, sing praises and give glory to our Lord for what He has done in sending forth His son as the ultimate "SACRIFICE" for the sins of man.
The announcement: A "SAVIOR" has been born this day in the city of David who is Christ the Lord.
Recipients: Lowly "Shepherds" who were tending to their flocks in the field by night.
WOW! LOOK AT GOD!
There is none like our God!
OH WHAT AN ANNOUNCEMENT!
GOOD NEWS AND GREAT TIDINGS TO ALL MEN INDEED!
THANK YOU LORD!
Your Servant Debra
