Luke 2:15-20 When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see what has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”
16 So they came hurrying and found Mary and Joseph, and the Baby lying in a manger. 17 When they had seen Him, they made widely known the word which was told them concerning this Child. 18 And all those who heard it marveled at what the shepherds told them. 19 But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.
As I studied and pondered this text, the Holy Spirit revealed to me in studying that this text that is before us today is indeed a picture of "SALVATION" by "FAITH" alone.
Full of excitement and joy now after the angelic visitation is over, the Shepherds said to one another "let us now go to Bethlehem and see what the Lord our God has clearly and truthfully made know to us".
The Shepherds hurried and made their way in search for Jesus, who is born "SAVIOR" of the world. God who put on flesh and came to earth to dwell among men.
Having obed the instructions as to where to find the "Savior", the Shepherds found Jesus at the exact location in Bethlehem as they were told by the Angels that is it there in the told them it is there in the city of David called Bethlehem is where they will find Jesus.
Upon their arrival, the Shepherds told Mary and Joseph about the visitation and message of the Angelic Host that was given to them. Those who heard what the Shepherds said was in "AWE" for the scripture declares that they filled with "wonder" at what they had heard.
Mary, the virgin girl, the Mother of the Savior that God used to bring forth this prophecy said nothing, but ponder the words of the Shepherd in her heart.
Having seen the "SAVIOR" for themselves with their own eyes, the Shepherds hearts were filled with joy, excitement and hope for their future because this night was proof to them that the "Savior" of the world is sent by God to all mankind, including them.
Beyond what words could ever explain, beyond what the mind could ever comprehend, beyond anything ever know or seen before in their lives, the shepherds returns back to the field to tend to their flock with hearts that was so full with gratitude that it caused them to exit the Savior's presence with glorify and praise to God the Father for all the things they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.
O Night Divine! O Holy Night indeed!
Tears of joy is flowing as I attempt to place myself at the scene of this glorious occasion in my minds eyes.
The Savior has come! The Savior has died and resurrected and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father making intercession on our behalf.
The "Shepherds" heard, they believed, they seeked the "Savior", testified to Mary and Joseph and others as to what they had heard, seen and believed for they rejoiced and glorified God when they found the "Savior" for what He had said and done for them in sending His Son, Jesus Christ, The Messiah, for them too.
Ephesians 2:8-9 Saved by grace through faith alone and not of works should any man boast.
People of God, let us celebrate our "Savior" this Christmas season and for the rest of our days here on earth with the joy and excitement exemplified to us by the Shepherds when they saw the fulfillment of all that they had heard concerning our "Savior" Jesus Christ. Let everyday of our lives be a day of joy, excitement and thanksgiving for what God has done in leaving heaven and coming to earth to be with us.
Salvation came to the Shepherds. It's available to you too through Christ Jesus. Seek Him today through His Word found in His Holy Bible and prayer with a broken heart of humility and I promise you that you too WILL find Him.
GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST!!!
O Lord, indeed you are a "WONDER"!
THANK YOU LORD!
