Job 14:1 “Man who is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble."
Trouble seems to be on every hand? Does it seems to be as the saints of old used to say "if it aint one thing it's another? Does trouble seems to continue to come and go in your life?
Well, welcome to the real world. We live in a fallen world.
Trouble is and will always be with man. We do not have to go looking for trouble for trouble invites itself unannounced and often times without warning.
Jesus Himself declares this John 16:33 I have spoken these things to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world.
The Apostle Paul declares these words concerning trouble in 2 Timothy 3:12-Yes, and all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
In this text, Job is declaring to us all too that man must expect trouble because our days here on earth are full of them and they are unavoidable.
1 Peter 4:12-2 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that is taking place among you to test you, as though some strange thing happened to you.
Throughout scripture we see how man suffered, saved and unsaved, for trouble is a part of life here on earth.
People of God, there is no trouble free life!
The good news is that God is with us in the midst of every test and every trial. I can call up a few witnesses for you.
Daniel in the Lion's den, 3 Hebrew boys in fiery furnace, David, Jeremiah, Mary the mother of Jesus, John on the isle of Patmos, the Apostle Paul, Debra Aiken and of course, Jesus Christ Himself suffered.
Oh, how short is life and oh, how full of trouble life is.
Does God have control of satan and the troubles of life? Yes indeed! No doubt about that for He does! But, He allows them for a purpose in which He alone knows.
In the fiery furnaces of life is where our faith has to kick in like never before. It is in these troubled fires where our faith is stretch and our need and dependency for God grows and is strengthen.
When we are going through trouble, we must hold fast to what we know to be true concerning us in the Word of God. God's promises concerning you and I are true, regardless of what we go through or the pain we experience as we are going through.
Job is our example of hope on today people of God.
Job suffered many great things in his life. It is out of his troubled and painful past that he realized that the days of man is troubled and few.
When Job spoke "Man who is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble" he was wounded in heart beyond explanation for He had just lost 10 children, all of his livestock, his servants and now his health.
Job's trouble did not end there for his friends falsely accused him of sinning against God as to the reason for such great pain and suffering he had been going through.
Talk about suffering, Job suffered! To top thing off Mrs. Job told him to "curse God and die".
Not only was job's lost was great, but the enemy came to attack his body with boils.
Sometimes we do not understand trouble and why it comes our way, but have you ever thought that God allowed it? He allowed Job to suffer for He said to satan "have you considered my faithful servant Job?"
Can God brag on us, even it means we must suffer for it?
In the midst of trouble, pain and suffering, Job never lost his faith in God and He declared these profound words that could have only been spoken by faith when we consider the trouble and suffering he was enduring at the time.
Let's listen to Job's faith in the midst of trouble. Job 13:15-Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.
Job 14:14b- all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
Change is gonna come people of God! Trouble does not last always.
In the midst of trouble and pain? Trust God to see you through for He alone is able to do just that for you and I.
Regardless of the test, put the Word of God on it! Pray and seek God for divine help and even if He does not remove the situation or remove us from us, He will give us a way of escape in our minds to deal with it until He brings about our change in it.
The question is not "why we have trouble because Jesus promise us that we would. Nor is the question why me?"
The question to be answered is "what will I do when trouble that is guaranteed to come, comes?" This is the question!
Will you seek God through His Word and prayer? Would you continue to trust Him by faith in the midst of trouble? Or, would you become angry and blame God for what you are going through?
What strategy are you using to counteract trouble that comes into your life? is it he Word of God, prayer, faith and trust in God? What is it?
We are warned in this text to expect trouble! What are we gonna do when it comes?
Job's life example gives us a few thoughts to ponder in the time of our trouble. He mourned the death of his loss in shaving his head and he kept his faith in the midst of it.
Job shows an attitude of victory in the midst of what appeared to be defeat in the time of such great loss by speaking these profound words in Job 1:21- He said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked will I return there. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.
There is a reward in suffering. God rewards us while on earth and in eternity.
After all Job suffered scripture declares that God blessed him beyond measure.
Let's listen to how God blessed Job in Job 42:10-b-the LORD restored his fortunes. In fact, the LORD gave him twice as much as before!
The good news to all who may be suffering or all who may find trouble on every hand is the fact that we too will be given a great reward for scripture declares these powerful and profound words concerning us in 2 Timothy 2:12- If we suffer, we shall also reign with him.
People of God, even in the midst of trouble, trust God on today for He promises to be with you in the midst of whatever trouble you may find yourself.
Psalm 30:5b-Weeping may endure for a night, but "JOY" comes in the morning.
Remember, the "JOY" of the Lord is your strength people of God.
As the Apostle Paul said "if you continue to fight the good fight of faith and not get weary in well doing, there is a crown of life that awaits in eternity for those who endure to the end."
