Psalm 35:4-5 Make me to know Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. 5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.
David's prayer to the Lord is that God would be his teacher or his instructor as he travel life's journey.
David knew his own ways and he knew that the ways of man is not pleasing to God. Man's way leads to separation from God but God's way leads to live everlasting with God.
David's petition to God proves that he also knew that "Truth" can only be found in God and with God alone.
David says to the Lord, "make me know your ways, teach me your paths, lead me into your truth and then as you lead and guide me, open my heart and mind that I may not only be taught your way, but receive it as my own and live according to the example that you have already set before me in your Word."
In other words, David is saying "Lord, your way is the right way and I want to follow you." Go before me and show me Thy path and Thy truth.
David’s desire was to be fully trained in the ways of God by God and not of man or by man.
I could only assume according to this prayer request from David to God that David had tried life over and over again on his own and over and over again he continued to find himself in need of God's divine direction for his life.
God's way is indeed the right way!
Psalm 100:3-Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Jeremiah 6:16-Thus says the Lord , stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths where the good way is and walk in it, and you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, “We will not walk in it.”
As with God's people in the old testament back then who had been told by God through the Prophet Jeremiah to ask for the old paths where the good way is, God is again saying the same thing to us today.
As with Israel back them, many today are still saying to God "WE WILL NOT WALK IN IT!"
God's path is a path of righteousness and man's path is a path of willful sin that leads to eternal separation from God.
In this world there is man's truth which leads to a place of torment and eternal separation from God when a life transtions from earth to eternity.
Man's ways are not God's way for scripture declares in Proverbs 4:12-There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.
Isaiah 55:8-9 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.
There is also God’s truth which leads to everlasting life with Him in eternity when we transition from earth to eternity.
Everyone of us will spend eternity either with God or separated from God. The choice is ours. How we choose to live our lives now either with God or apart from Him will be how we WILL live in eternity.
Convince yourselves of whatever it is you want to, but the truth of the matter is this “the Word of God” is “TRUTH” and it WILL remain standing even after every word that man utters has fallen.
God Himself declares in Matthew 24:35- Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Lead me into your truth. What truth? God’s Word found in His Bible.
In seeing truth as God sees it through His Word, David will indeed be lead into and taught truth by God Himself.
As humans, our ways are the ways of sin, but God's ways are ways of righteousness.
Are you seeking to know God's plan for your life? Is it your desire to know what path in life that God has already outlined for you and I to walk in?
It is the Lord God alone in whom salvation is found.
Acts 4:11-12 Jesus, the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone. 12 There is no salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Is it your desire to live a life pleasing to God? If so, do your best to obey God's Word according to scripture by the leading of His Holy Spirit and God will teach you along the way in what to do and how to do it.
Psalm 37:23-The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.
God’s way is the right way!
