Matthew 6:34-Therefore, take no thought about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take thought about the things of itself. Sufficient to the day is the trouble thereof.
CEV- Don’t worry about tomorrow. It will take care of itself. You have enough to worry about today.
In the previous verses before this text, Jesus is addressing fear and worry.
Nothing in this world is guaranteed apart from God, including our tomorrow.
There is no assurance with man that we will have a tomorrow. There is of course a desire to see tomorrow, but only God know the surety of it. Therefore, we are commanded to not be anxious, fearful or worried about tomorrow or what it may bring.
Should we plan for tomorrow? Of course!
James 4:14-15 -What do you know about tomorrow? How can you be so sure about your life? It is nothing more than mist that appears for only a little while before it disappears. 15 You should say, “If the Lord lets us live, we will do these things.”
Do not be overly concerned about tomorrow nor take the cares of two days and bring them all upon yourself in one day for none of us knows what a day may bring.
Worry not about tomorrow! God promises to take care of His own.
Let's listen to Jesus speak to us in Matthew 6:28-33 I tell you not to worry about your life. Don’t worry about having something to eat, drink, or wear. Isn’t life more than food or clothing? 26 Look at the birds in the sky! They don’t plant or harvest. They don’t even store grain in barns. Yet your Father in heaven takes care of them. Aren’t you worth more than birds?
27 Can worry make you live longer?[ 28 Why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow. They don’t work hard to make their clothes. 29 But I tell you that Solomon with all his wealth wasn’t as well clothed as one of them. 30 God gives such beauty to everything that grows in the fields, even though it is here today and thrown into a fire tomorrow. He will surely do even more for you! Why do you have such little faith?
31 Don’t worry and ask yourselves, “Will we have anything to eat? Will we have anything to drink? Will we have any clothes to wear?” 32 Only people who don’t know God are always worrying about such things. Your Father in heaven knows that you need all of these. 33 But more than anything else, put God’s work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well.
Each day has its own set of test, trials and problems. God is calling us to face them head on with the confidence in knowing that He is our God and that He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
People of God, do not worry or stress yourselves with the cares of tomorrow on today. Plan for them, but do not worry about them.
Taking on tomorrow's worry today causes us to miss out on God’s best for us on today.
Worry is the opposite of that which God has called us to. He is calling us to "Trust" in Him by faith.
In looking back over our lives and seeing how God kept us from the cradle until this present hour and how He has and is still providing for us, we owe it to Him to continue in that same confidence in knowing that our God is the same God and that He is still able to supply our sufficiency for today and tomorrow if we live to see it.
There is a song that that the saints of old used to sing when I was growing up that is called “one day at a time.”
The lyrics starts off with these words “I'm only human I'm just a man. Help me to believe in what I could be and all that I am. Show me the stairway that I have to climb. Lord for my sake teach me to take one day at a time.
One day at a time sweet Jesus that's all I'm asking from you. Give me the strength to do everyday what I have to do. Yesterday's gone sweet Jesus and tomorrow may never be mine. So for my sake teach me to take one day at a time.
People of God, live one day at a time. Do not neglect the present for the future.
Let us live each day with God and eternity in view and watch our God as He gives us the strength and resources we need to secure all that is valuable and necessary in the time in which He has given us to live.
Worry not! Trust God for He promises to take care of you.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.
People of God, the command today is to give our entire attention to what God is doing right now and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow.
God will help us! He promised it in His Word.
If God can take care of the lilies of the field, provide for the birds who work nor labor, aren't we much more than they? God will indeed supply our needs for we are His children.
Remember, worry adds nothing to life for it's duty is to take away.
People of God, put feet to your faith while it is yet “TODAY” and trust our heavenly Father to do just what He promise to do for us in this text in supplying our every need, everyday.
God is a promise keeping God!
Will you trust Him on today for your now and your future? If you do, He promise to take care of you.
Worry not about tomorrow for tomorrow will take care of itself!
We can't change yesterday, but we can ruin today worrying about tomorrow. WOW!!!
