Job 14:5-A person's days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.
As sure as we are born, we are promised to also one day die.
The question to be answered by all of us is when we have breathe our last breath, will we be ready to meet Christ? Will we have prepared while we lived to one day meet Him?
We are reminded in scripture about the shortness of life. Even if we lived to be 100 or 200 years old, what are those years in comparison to eternity?
Hebrews 9: 27-28- As it is appointed for men to die once, but after this comes the judgment, 28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many, and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin but to save those who eagerly wait for Him.
How do we prepare to one day meet Christ? The old way of living has to go. You must separate yourself from your life prior to your relationship with Christ.
Ephesians 4:17-24 And so I insist—and God backs me up on this—that there be no going along with the crowd, the empty-headed, mindless crowd. They’ve refused for so long to deal with God that they’ve lost touch not only with God but with reality itself. They can’t think straight anymore. Feeling no pain, they let themselves go in sexual obsession, addicted to every sort of perversion.
20-24 But that’s no life for you. You learned Christ! My assumption is that you have paid careful attention to him, been well instructed in the truth precisely as we have it in Jesus. Since, then, we do not have the excuse of ignorance, everything—and I do mean everything—connected with that old way of life has to go. It’s rotten through and through. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new way of life—a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.
1 John 2:28- And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at his coming.
The longevity of life is only known by God. We know our birth date, but our death date is known unto God alone.
Nothing is promised, including tomorrow. Here today and possibly gone tomorrow. We do not know when our time her on earth will end, but, one thing we do know is the fact that is it is short.
James 4:14 How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.
God does not want us to not enjoy the things He has given us in the world to enjoy. He just does not want them to take first place in our lives. Matthew 6:33-But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
As I often heard when I was growing up, I say to all of us on today "only what we do for Christ will be what matters at the end of our life here on earth and in eternity."
The apostle Paul puts it this way in Ephesians 3:8-9-Nothing is as wonderful as knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have given up everything else and count it all as garbage. All I want is Christ 9 and to know that I belong to him. I could not make myself acceptable to God by obeying the Law of Moses. God accepted me simply because of my faith in Christ.
James 4:10-Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.
If God is cast aside as not important in your life and you are not daily making preparation by setting yourself apart for His use and not the world's use, you will not be ready to meet Him when He returns.
I urge everyone of us on today to not trust truth according to what is right in our own eyes, but by what is written in the Word of God for God is the final authority.
We all have room for improvement in our relationship with Christ!
What will we do with the opportunity given today to do just that?
When your last breath is drawn, will we be ready to meet Jesus? If not, I urge you to start today.
Contrary to what the world and society may try to make you believe, the pleasures of this world and life for all of us will one day end. Earth is our temporary journey to our eternal destination.
WILL YOU BE READY TO MEET CHRIST WHEN YOUR LAST BREATH IS DRAWN? WHEN? I CAN NOT TELL YOU FOR ONLY GOD KNOWS.
Prepare today while it is yet today for one day we all will take our last breath.
