Matthew 24:42-Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord will come.
Watch-to be awake, give attention, close observation, to look with expectation, guard, vigilance for keeping or protecting against danger.
We are living in a time that is described in the bible as the "days of evil", perilous times. Times in which man is living according to what is right in his or her own eyes. A time when God has been given the back seat in the lives of many and the world and all of its ungodly, perishable pleasures have taken front row seat in the lives of many, including some of those who once confessed Christ.
One day the world and all its's pleasures will be no more. What will you have left if your soul is lost and you die apart from God?
Knowing the brevity of life, it is not only important, but it would seem to make sense that we will make every attempt to live each day of our lives as if it was our last for none of us knows when our last breath will be drawn.
Sadly, many today are living their lives as if they plan to be on earth forever. Making no preparation to one day leave here and stand before Christ.
The bible declares that Jesus will one day return to receive those that belong to Him. Yes, there will be a 2nd coming of Christ.
When Jesus came to earth over 2k years ago, He came to "save" those that were lost. Those who needed a physician for their sin sick souls.
Let's listen to Jesus in what His purpose was for coming to earth in Luke 19:10- For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
In other words, He came for no other reason, but to shed his blood and die for the sins of the world. We can either believe what He says or we can reject it.
When He returns, He will come as judge. Revelation 22:12-"Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.
Keep watch over your soul! How do we do this? We can start with Faith in God through a personal relationship with Christ Jesus. We then, through application (obedience) of the Word of God in our lives moves along with the leading of the Holy Spirit in offering our sacrifice of service to others with continual prayer to our Father in heaven is a good way to get started.
The day that Christ will return? On that day and hour no man knows. What is known is the fact that He is coming back.
It is because of the uncertainty of life and the certainty of Christ return as Judge that we all MUST live our lives in preparation of one day meeting Him.
PEOPLE OF GOD, KEEP WATCH! BE VIGILANT AND ALERT FOR THE DEVIL LURKS AROUND IN DECEIT AND CRAFTINESS SEEKING WHOM HE MAY DEVOUR.
DO NOT LET IT BE YOU. STAY IN THE WORD, KEEP PRAYING, KEEP TRUSTING GOD FOR HE PROMISES TO BE WITH YOU ALWAYS.
Life is short and our days here on earth are short. James 4:14- How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.
God alone knows the number of our days. Job 14:5-You have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer.
Since our days on earth are numbered and none of us know when we will take our last breath, it is imperative that we daily prepare to one day meet Christ.
We MUST prepare NOW! Now is the acceptable time, now is the day of salvation.
Jesus will return one day when we are all not expecting Him. What will He find us doing when He returns?
Will He find us telling the lost that the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life?
Will He find you eating, drinking and being merry with no thought of your life now and in eternity?
What will Jesus catch us doing? Remember, we are warned in scripture to be ready for no man knows the day nor the hour in which He will return.
We all will be without excuse as we stand before Christ to give an account for our lives. Throughout scripture we have been given one warning after another about the return of Christ and our need to prepare to one day meet Him.
When we stand before Christ all that will matter is what we did for Him while we lived. Did we have a personal relationship with the Father through Him? Did we do our best in doing what He commanded of us in loving the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and mind and our neighbor as ourselves?
Nothing else would matter for Jesus says these are the 2 greatest commandments for upon these hangs all the Law and Prophets.
At the end of our journey called life, what will we hear Christ say concerning us?
Will you hear Matthew 25:21-His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Or will you hear Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonderful works in Your name?’ 23 But then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who practice evil.
To those who have a personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ, here is what the Lord says concerning you.
Let's listen to what God says concerning us in 1John 5:11-13 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life, and whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
If you belong to Christ, keep watch!
Ready or not, Christ will return.
