Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Jesus declares in this text that not everyone that says "Lord, Lord" will enter into the kingdom of heaven for there will be some who have labored by prophesy in his name, they have cast out devils and have done great works, but they will miss heaven.
There will be people who stands before Christ at judgment that will be very surprise at the fact that they will not enter heaven.
In this text during Jesus's earthly ministry, many directly addressed Him as "Lord"
What Jesus was saying is the fact that the kingdom of heaven is not for those who call Him "Lord", but for those who acknowledge Jesus as "Lord" over their lives. Those whose hearts that have become the throne of Christ. A place where He abides, rules and reign.
Many in the world today are doing exactly what they want to do. They have convinced themselves that they can live for the world 6 days a week, serve God one day a week on Sunday or not at all and they are on their way to heaven. Jesus says not so!
God Himself declares that "obedience is better than sacrifice". God prefers our obedience over our works. Salvation and obedience goes hand in hand.
Many will miss heaven because they refuse to believe. Hebrews 11:6-And without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Jesus came to earth to die and shed His blood so that we can be reconciled back to God by faith through Him.
Missing heaven is a choice for all of us. We each can decide to receive or reject the Gospel. It is up to us to decided if we are either for God or against God?
If we miss heaven, we will forever be eternally separated from God.
John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
Luke 13:3-I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Matthew 10:32-33 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
Jesus says there will be "many" who will miss heaven. There will be "many" that Jesus will declare unto them "I never knew you. depart from me you worker of iniquity."
Once Jesus passes down this judgment, there will be no more opportunity for salvation, no more opportunity for grace and mercy, no more opportunity for repentance for it will be too late.
Therefore, while we yet have another opportunity today while the blood is still running warm in our veins, let us do as Jesus commanded in Matthew 7:13-14 Enter at the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who are going through it,14 because small is the gate and narrow is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Today is a day of decision making for you if you do not know Christ for the pardon of your sins. Who will be choose? Which path will you take? Christ or the world?
Today is the day of Salvation! NOW is the acceptable time!
If you reject Jesus and the Gospel message, you will miss heaven. I do not care how much work you do, how much service you give, it means nothing if you are not in a personal relationship with God through Christ Jesus.
Works will not guarantee you a seat in heaven. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, 9 not of works, so that no one should boast.
We are not saved by works, but we work because we are saved.
The point that Jesus is driving home today is "the will of My Father" must be done in our lives.
We must be obedient to God's commands and our lives must be characterized by evidence of that obedience to Him.
Will we fall and make mistakes at times? Of course, but get back up and start over again. We may fall down, but we should not lay down once we fall. GET UP!!!
Thinking works is more important than salvation? With this mindset you will definitely miss heaven.
God's Will or your way? Which have you chosen?
Remember, Jesus said "some will miss heaven"!
Please, do not let it be you!
