Proverbs 28:13-He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
Conceal or confess? The choice is ours.
We all are guilty of sinning at times.
Willful sin should not be a part of the believers life. Hebrews 10:26-For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins.
A believer should not say "i do not care if it is wrong or not, i am gonna do it anyway." That is willful sin.
Ok, perhaps you may say that since you got saved you never sinned anymore.
Well, the "spiritual man" in us can not sin, but the flesh, the nature of our first father Adam that is still in all of us sins.
As believers, our sinful nature should not have reign in our lives, but He is still there.
No, you may not have ever committed a sinful act, but I am sure you have thought a wrong thought since you got saved.
James 2:10-If you obey every law except one, you are still guilty of breaking them all. In other words, if you can keep one of the laws you can keep them all and with human abilities, we are unable to keep them all for if we were, there would be no need for Christ to have come, shed His blood and died for our sins.
We are saved once, sanctified or set apart as holy for God' service is a daily process.
The process of sanctification is the work God works in us on a daily basis in making us like Christ. Therefore, sanctification is a process from the day of salvation until our death.
We are being made into the image of Christ through the daily washing of our minds with the Word of God and our obedience to the leading of God's Holy Spirit.
1 John 1:8- If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
When we sin we have a choice of either concealing it or confessing it. We can try to hide it or defend it by making excuses for them or we can come clean as the young people would say and confess it.
The choice is our! The truth of the matter is that God already knows everything.
Hebrews 4:13- There is no creature that is not revealed in His sight, for all things are bare and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
So what should we do when we sin? Hide it or confess it? Well, the old adage is "confession is good for the soul." When we have sinned, admit that we have done wrong, own up to what we have done and ask God to show us mercy.
Sin must be confessed and we must repent of it! Hidden sin will not prosper for scripture declares in Romans 6:23-For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
In scripture, we are encouraged to confess our sins for when we do, God will forgive us.
Let's listen to 1 John 1:9-If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
The choice we all are left with on today is not to justify or defend our sins, but to confess and turn away from them. Renounce them for what the are and tell God about them, even though He already knows.
God "LOVES" us and wants to hear from us everyday concerning every issue of life so that He can lead and guide us through His Holy Word and His Holy Spirit.
Concealing our sins that are not hidden from God only hurts us in the long run. As the saints of old used to say "what you do in the dark will come to light." Oh how true is that statement!
People of God, purpose in your heart on today that you will not allow "sin" to have rule and reign in your life, but that you will renounce it, turn away from it and confess it to God for He promises you that we do, He is faithful and just to forgive us.
Concealing our sins or confessing them? Where do we stand concerning "sin" in our life?
God promises if we confess and turn away from our sins, He WILL show us "MERCY."
