Matthew 6:25-34 “Therefore, I say to you, take no thought about your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they do not sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns. Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they? 27 Who among you by taking thought can add a cubit[a] to his stature?
28 “Why take thought about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: They neither work, nor do they spin. 29 Yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.30 Therefore, if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is here and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 Therefore, take no thought, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 (For the Gentiles seek after all these things.) For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you.34 Therefore, take no thought about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take thought about the things of itself. Sufficient to the day is the trouble thereof.
WORRY="merimnaó" is greek name. In english it means -I am over-anxious; with acc: I am anxious about, distracted; I care for. "to go to pieces" because pulled apart (in different directions),
In a world full of chaos and confusion, wars, rumor of wars, uncertainties, fear, anxiety and troubles, the opportunity to worry is increasing daily at an alarming rate.
Because of these uncertainties, many are finding themselves being consumed by the cares of this world.
The call from God to His people on today is "take no thought" about tomorrow but pray, trust and believe for worry adds nothing and only takes away from today.
When Jesus says take no thought for tomorrow, He is telling us to "STOP WORRYING ABOUT TOMORROW" and put our faith in Him today.
If we belong to God, He promises to take care of us. He reminds us of how he daily takes care of the "fowl" of the air (birds) who does not sow nor reap and yet He provides for them. Shall He not provide for us who are greater than the birds?
Stop worrying and stop fretting says the Lord! Do not worry about the basic necessity of food and clothing for if God clothes the lilies of the field that are here today and gone tomorrow, shall He not provide for His own?
When we worry, Jesus describes us as people of "little faith."
When our faith is weak at times, we are reminded to seek God as the disciples did in asking Him to increase their faith in Luke 17:5-The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"
Jesus wants us to trust and believe that He, as our Father in heaven knows everything that we stand in need of, therefore, instead of worry and fret, let's begin to trust Him.
Proverbs 3:5-6 -Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Each day has enough trouble of its own so take one day at a time.
To be honest, most of the things that we worry about don't even happen.
We are to use our time not to worry but to seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all that we stand in need of God will supply.
Worry not, but, cast (throw off) our cares on the Lord and pray for He cares for us.
Remember, worry can't live nor breathe in the secret place of prayer to the Most High God.
It is in the presence of our God in His throne room of faith and prayer is where worry and fear dies.
Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will protect your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Notice that our praying to God the Father must be done in the attitude of "thanksgiving."
As we approach God with the worries, fears and burdens of life, we should do so with a thankful heart. Why? Because we have a God Who cares about us and He promises to hear and answer our prayers when we call on Him in faith according to His will.
People of God, will we make a commitment today that every time the opportunity to worry or fear shows up at the door of our hearts and minds, we will "SHUT" the door of worry with the Word of God and prayer in faith to the Father, knowing that He alone has the answer to ALL the issues of our life.
What is it that you are worried about this morning? Is it your family, your spouse, your children, your career, your health, your finances, your marriage, divorce, your future, your home, car, business or position? What is it?
Do you believe that God is able to fix it?
Do you know that in the midst of whatever it is that worry is using to attach itself to you that it is not adding anything to your life on today? LET IT GO!!!
The answer to our worry is Prayer and thanksgiving unto God that He did not let the enemy have his way with us. t
Even in the midst of pain and suffering, we have to still tell God "THANK YOU" for not allowing the enemy to do what he had set out to do against us.
Yes, each day has enough troubles of it's own, therefore, do not worry about tomorrow for it will take care of itself.
Deal with life today as it comes and trust God to help you today and when tomorrow comes, trust Him again.
Do not allow the enemy of your mind to take you on a ride down the road of "worry" about the cares of tomorrow on today.
Worry is overcome by faith, prayer, the Word of God and thanksgiving.
GET BUSY FOR THE FIGHT FOR OUR MINDS ARE REAL!
God's grace is sufficient for you and I on today! THANK YOU LORD!
