Psalm 27:13-14 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Trouble seems to be on every hand? The cares of the world appears to be too great? The enemy attacks seems to never cease in your mind and in your life? Well, there is an anchor for your storm. There is a way of escape that is called "faith" in God.
No, we don't have all the answers, we can only see so far ahead of us, we are often confused about the right decision to make and which route to take, but God knows all things.
If you would put on your spiritual glasses and see life's test and trials through the lense of scripture, you would have your heavy, burdened down heart lightened.
Believe it or not, but trouble is everywhere! It takes up residence on every door step. If trouble has not made a pathway to your door yet, keep living!
The good news for you people of God is the Lord your God is with you in the midst of them all. Yes, even in the midst of life's fiercest battles, there is hope called "Jesus" who will carry us through them.
1 Peter 5:7-Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
David, in this text needed hope. David had lived a life where his enemies were constantly on his trail. He experienced one trial after another. If it was not King Saul or the Philistines , it was the enemies of God's people chasing after him.
David was no different from you and I. He had no special powers, but he had "FAITH" in God. As a matter of fact, his faith was so strong in the Sovereignty of God until God himself called David "a man after God's own heart."
David was able to triumph over battles and painful circumstances and situations first in his mind by faith.
Remember, Jesus gave us advance warnings about the troubles of this world so we won't be surprise when they come. Let's listen to John 16:33-“I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”
If we never had a problem, we would never know that God could solve them.
It is in the mind where the battles of life begins to rage. That is why daily studying the Word of God is very important because it is the Word of God that we find hope and faith needed to endure in the fiery furnaces of life.
When the enemy of our mind attempts to torment us with his lies, we can go to the word of God and find hope and peace.
Once we have traveled through God's Word in His bible, we learn that what the enemy is speaking to our minds are lies because it does not line up with the truth of God's Word concerning us.
The enemy attempts to use our mind as his playground?
Apostle Paul exhorts us to cast down, reject and refuse to allow the lies of the enemy to take up space in our mind and thoughts.
Let's listen to 2 Corinthians 5:10- casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
Who's report are you going to believe? The lies of the enemy or the Word of God? You do have a choice?
David had a choice to either believe the giants in his life that he was facing or to trust God and take Him at His Word. David chose to trust God for he said in vs#13- I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
In other words, David made a sound decision in the midst of one attack after another to put his faith and trust in God, regardless of how big the problem was.
David had history with God. He spent time with God starting from a young boy, therefore, by faith David was able to see the hands of God working on his behalf and in the midst of danger, he was able to kill a bear, a lion and even the great Philistine giant Goliath.
Being the baby in the family and an outcast among his brothers, gave David many opportunities on a daily basis to feel discouraged and rejected, but he chose not to.
David's life was not trouble free and neither will yours or mine be. The key is "faith" in God.
Regardless of what we may go through or suffer, we must believe and trust the fact that God knows what He is doing in our lives and He will come through on our behalf if we keep the faith, keep trusting and keep soaking our minds with His Word.
In this text that David is now a grown man and the enemy has not let up against him and guess what? He is still holding on to his faith. It is his faith that gives him the courage to say that he would have given up in defeat to his enemies if he had not believed that God would eventually showed up on his behalf.
Through it all, David learned to trust in God and to take Him at His Word. We must do to the same!
God is not going to always take away every test and trial that comes our way, he uses them to strengthen our faith and with that being said, there are some things we MUST NEED to go through in this life so that we too could declares what David declares by saying "we too would have fainted unless we had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in our lives too."
If God is the God of our salvation, is He not the same God who is able to shelters us from the storms of life? Scripture declares that He changes not for He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Now that David had believed that he would see the goodness of God's power working on his behalf, he encouraged himself by saying He will not wait on the Lord and be of good courage and in doing so, his faith and knowledge of God's sovereign power will not cause his heart to be weary anymore, but strengthen. therefore, He will wait on the Lord.
Everyone of us can look back over our lives and see the things that we have gone through and how God not only strengthen us in them, but he brought us through them all.
People of God, my words to you on today is this "THROUGH IT ALL" put your faith and trust in God for He alone is the one who can shelter you in your time of trouble in His secret place.
Psalm 27:5-For in the time of trouble He will hide me in His pavilion; in the shelter of His tabernacle He will hide me; He will set me up on a rock.
Are the storms of your life raging? What are you gonna do about it? Are you gonna faint and give up or are you gonna keep fighting by "faith" and wait on God as you keep pressing your way through it all?
How will you travel "through it all?" Like David in faith or in fear or doubt?
I pray that "THROUGH IT ALL" you would dig deep into the Word of God and when trouble comes, you will speak the Word of God by faith knowing that our God has it all under His control and He is able to do all things necessary concerning you and I.
1 Peter 1:7-These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold--though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
I spent years allowing the enemy to torment my mind, but once I realized that God was for me and not against me, I purposed in my heart that "THROUGH IT ALL" I WILL trust God and take Him at His Word and like David."
"THROUGH IT ALL" God has strengthened me, therefore I am able to encourage and show you the way of hope and strength through His Word.
THROUGH IT ALL! I have learned to trust in God and to depend upon His Word.
Is this your testimony on today also?
