Psalm 86:11 Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I will walk in Your truth; bind my heart to fear Your name.
I need you Lord and I want to know you. Is this your prayer? Is your heart undivided?
This text is a part of David's prayer to the Lord for comfort and mercy in his time of distress.
In David's prayer to God, by asking God "to teach him His way" was an admission on David's part that he had tried to work things out his way and it was not working, therefore, he humbles himself in prayer to request God's help.
Are you in need of God's help? It starts with a humble submission to God in prayer. No, we can not come to God puffed up and full of pride. We MUST humble ourselves before the Mighty hands of God.
Scripture declares that the Lord loves and gives grace to the humble. As my mother, Mella Mae and my grandmother Cora would say "the humble child taste the grace."
If we are willing to humble ourselves and be taught by God's Holy Spirit, God will do just that for us. The things of God are known by God and it is God who reveals them to mankind through His Spirit.
Do you want to know and see the wondrous things of God? Seek God! Psalm 119:18-Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.
When we are humbly being taught by God, the things of God and honoring His name will become an automatic for us.
Is your heart divided? An undivided heart can not unite with God in being taught by God. Not being able to make up your mind about God only hinders the work of God in our lives.
The entire prayer in Psalm 86 was David's request to God for unity with God. Is this your urgent desire? Do you truly want to be one with God? Have you cried out to Him in prayer about it?
Teach me thy way, O Lord. In other words, show me Lord what you would have me to do that I may honor and reverence thee.
When we are truly taught by God, we will do our best to pursue and "walk in His way." The way in which He has shown us through His Word and not our own way.
I will walk in thy truth! In other words, Lord, I will live and act in accordance with what You have declared to be true in your Word and in doing so, I am pursuing your will and not mine.
When God has revealed His will to us and when we begin to reverence, honor, respect and walk therein, our end results will not only be reverence and honor for our God, but also a fulfillment of the much needed help we ALL stand in need of from the Lord.
Unite my heart so that I may fear your name Lord! Make me one with you and I will worship, honor and obey You.
I need you Lord! We need you Lord!
Do you stand in need of being united as one with God on today? As David exemplified to us on today, unity with God starts with humility and submission to God in prayer.
God has a “WAY” for man and He alone can teach us that way.
God's Word also declares this concerning His plans for us in Jeremiah 29:11-For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
God has a good plan and when we walk according to the way He has taught us, we will be rewarded GREATLY with the benefits of His plan for our lives here now on earth and in heaven.
Teach me your way O Lord for I am in need of your help!
When you teach me Lord, I will do my best to walk in them for I no longer have a heart that is divided against you, but one that is united with you O Lord.
A divided heart starts with us but a unified heart starts and ends with you O Lord.
SHOW ME YOUR WAY O LORD!
Yes Lord, we ALL need your help!
O Lord, give us an undivided heart.
Thank you Lord for hearing and answering our prayers.
