Psalm 118:8-It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
DISAPPOINTMENT-"kataischuno" in the greek. In english it means to put to shame, disgrace, put to utter confusion or to dishonor.
Every one of us trusts in something or someone. Either things or another human being.
When we have made the choice to find and place in first position in our lives, an alternative to God, we have placed ourselves in a position to be "DISAPPOINTED, hurt, ashamed and confused."
Trust placed anywhere else other than with God first will bring short term promises and guaranteed "DISAPPOINTMENT."
We are warned to, we are reminded of the necessity, and we are strongly encouraged to place our trust in the Lord our God and not people or things for they are all temporary.
As human, we have a proven record of our tendency to "disappoint" for it is in our nature to do so. We often fail to keep our promises whether intentional or unintentional. THINGS HAPPEN that causes us for one reason or another to "disappoint" others.
Whatever reason we have or excuses we make for "disappointing" others, in doing so, we have refused to fulfill our promise to them.
Not so with God! Our God is a promise keeping God. When we place our hope in Him we are given this guarantee promise in Romans 5:5-And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Romans 10:11-For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in Him will not be put to shame.” In other words, when your hope is in the Lord His promises concerning us WILL come to pass at His appointed time in our ilves.
The danger in trusting man and not God is found in Jeremiah 17:5-The LORD says, "I will put a curse on people who trust in mere human beings, who depend on mere flesh and blood for their strength, and whose hearts have turned away from the LORD.
The main reason we should trust God is that He is worthy of our trust. Unlike man, He never lies and never fails to fulfill His promises. Numbers 23:19-God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He spoken, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
God's plans for our lives are perfect, holy and righteous. God Himself declares His plans concerning us in Jeremiah 29:11-For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
We can learn to trust God as we look back through the rear view mirror of our lives and see how God has proven Himself to be faithful and trustworthy in our lives and the lives of others over and over again.
In the words of my Pastor, Rev. Isaac J. Holt, Jr., "HIM ABLE"!
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man because with God nothing is impossible, for in and through Him all things are possible.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters,
and that spreads out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat comes, but its leaf shall be green, and it shall not be anxious in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
Where is your faith on today? In whose hands have you placed your hope, trust and your future?
I can only hope and pray that it is in the Lords hands for if you have placed it anywhere else than with Him, you are guaranteed "disappointment" and eventually defeat.
To whom are you in pursuit of on today for fulfillment in your life?
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to put your trust in mortal man. Like you and I.
One day every human being will kiss this world they love so much goodbye and when we die all die, all the things and people that have been placed in our lives as priority dies and leaves us with nothing in the end.
When we die with God as priority in our lives, we have the guarantee of a "crown of righteousness" and eternity with Him for He alone is from everlasting to everlasting. Everything and everyone else is perishable and will be of benefit to no one, including themself in the end.
Traveling the roads of life with man or with God? Who is your travel companion? One is temporal and the other is eternal! Whom or what have you chosen to travel throughout your life with?
Apart from God, "DISAPPOINTMENT" lingers and wears you out with frustration as trust, hope and faith in God continue to scream out to you to take them in your heart and mind so that you may receives the promises of God that belongs to you personally.
Where is your faith? In whom or what have you placed your trust and hope in on today?
If God is not your answer to this question, I urge you to seek Him on today for direction in your life for now is the acceptable time to seek the Lord while He may be found.
"DISAPPOINTED?" YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SETTLE THERE!
