1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Rejoice in the greek is "GIL", which means exult, rejoice, be glad, be joyful.
As the song writer says "cheer up my brother." Be cheerful, regardless of what it is that you may be going through. God is with you, "cheer up!"
I am sure that we all can come up with one reason after another as to why we do not feel like being joyful at times. But, believe it or not, those are the times that we should attempt to rejoice even the more.
The three command in this text for believers is this:“Rejoice always; pray without ceasing for it causes us to stay in constant communication with God. In everything give thanks for this is God's will concerning us in Christ Jesus.
We are to rejoice, pray without ceasing and give thanks in all things for we know scripture declares concerning us in Romans 8:28-And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.
Rejoice, be cheerful, be glad no matter what you may be dealing with. (2) Continue in prayer, no matter what! (3) Give thanks and be glad always that our current situation or circumstance is not as bad as it could have been.
Rejoice in the fact that the enemy did not have his way with you overnight as you slept. Death did not take us out. We are still alive and here to give God praise, glory and honor. We awoke this morning in our right minds with the activity of all our limbs. Rejoice and give thanks to the Lord that we are even alive.
Rejoice today people of God for many people did not wake up this morning. Guess what? Their alarm clock is still ringing. You were able to lean over and shut yours off.
Let us shame the devil today by making today a day of "rejoicing" thanksgiving, gladness and not a day of complaining about this or that. Let everything that has breath, be glad, rejoice and give praise to the Lord our God for indeed He has been and is still good to all of us!
In all things give thanks! WHY? The Lord requires this of us through Christ Jesus. Purpose in your heart that you will "rejoice" and be glad starting this day.
God does not call us to be doom and gloom Christians! No! He called us to rejoice, be thankful and be glad.
Scripture declares this about what benefits we receive when we are joyful. Let's listen to Proverbs 17:22-A happy heart is good medicine and a joyful mind causes healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.
Rejoice always.Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks for this is the will of God concerning you and I in Christ Jesus.
