2 Corinthians 4:18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Scripture declares that what we see is temporary and the things we can not see are eternal.
There are some things that can not be seen except in the spirit. Natural sight can be deceiving because what we see is not always what we see.
No doubt, the Christian life has its trials, test, persecutions, rejections and on and on. Sometimes it seems to be a constant battle.
With that being said, sometimes our perception does not always line up with reality. What we see may not be as accurate as we think. Everything depends on our view either from the spirit or the natural. There is a difference in the 2 sights.
With the natural eyes we tend to see what is before us, but with the spiritual eyes we see that which is not before us in the natural.
For example: A person that does not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ may see problems that they believe can not be solved. On the other hand, a Christian may experience that same problem and see a solution through the Word of God based on their faith in God through Christ Jesus.
We are reminded in 2 Corinthians 5:7- For we walk by faith, not by sight. This does not mean that faith is walking blindly and not knowing where you are going or what you believe, but It does mean that faith is not limited to physical sight. What we can see, we need no faith for.
Example: If I wanted to do something and had the means to do it, that would not be faith. But, if I had a need and no means to fulfill that need then I would need faith in God to believe that somehow, at His appointed time, God will make a way for me to have what I need if I trust and believe that He is able to do just that.
Hebrews 11:1-Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. In other words, even though I am able to see what is needed with the natural eyes, I believe in the spirit that I already have it, therefore, I wait in faith for it with expectation.
1 Corinthians 2:14-The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
The spirit that is being referenced is the "Holy Spirit." The "spirit" of God that indwells in us after salvation. The one who is the comforter, guide, teacher and discerner of all things.
Ephesians 1:13-14 Christ also brought you the truth, which is the good news about how you can be saved. You put your faith in Christ and were given the promised Holy Spirit to show that you belong to God. 14 The Spirit also makes us sure that we will be given what God has stored up for his people. Then we will be set free, and God will be honored and praised.
We are reminded in this text that everything we see is temporary. Everything that is eternal and regards the Kingdom of God must be seen with spiritual eyes for they are not seen with the natural eyes.
Our present suffering and afflictions are temporary. Romans 8:18- I am sure that what we are suffering now cannot compare with the glory that will be shown to us.
The Natural man is in darkness regarding spiritual things because he or she can not see nor perceive beyond natural sight without the "Spirit" of God.
When the Holy Spirit comes and lives within the believer, it is like a "light bulb" that turns on in our minds and because of that light being turned on, we are able to see in the spirit that which we were blinded to before the "Holy Spirit" entered into us.
The Apostle Paul speaks to the Christians, these words in 1 Corinthians 6:19-Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself.
If the Holy Spirit lives within us, we MUST be able to see beyond what we see in the natural.
Through daily meditation and study of God's Word along with prayer, our spiritual eyes are open more and more as to what is temporary and what is eternal.
Everything on earth is temporal, including our suffering. It will all be left behind. Only what we have inherited from the "Spirit" of God that lives within us will be of benefit to us in eternity. Therefore, spiritual sight is not an option, but of necessity if you plan to spend eternity with God.
The Bible says that God is present everywhere. No matter where we go, He is there. Psalm 139:7- “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?”
The Holy Spirit is not an “it.” The Holy Spirit is a Person. He is the third person of the God head. He is God. There are three Persons in the Trinity–God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
To say that we can look at unseen things may sound strange to some, but scripture declares on today that it is the sight of the unseen that is eternal and everything else is temporary. It is the sight of the unseen that is seen only through the Holy Spirit.
How is eternal sight obtained? Through faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, for scripture declares in Hebrews 11:6-But without faith no one can please God. We must believe that God is real and that he rewards everyone who searches for Him. This is the beginning of wisdom that leads to spiritual sight.
Romans 1:16- For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
The Holy Spirit has all knowledge. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 2:10- “The Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”
It is the Holy Spirit who teaches us and takes us deeper and deeper into God’s truth as we grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ, but we can grow only by the help of the Holy Spirit.
The point I want to drive home today is that regardless of what we may suffer, regardless of the struggle, regardless of what anyone says or do to us or against us, God's word tells us to not loose heart and give up even though out outward man is perishing because inwardly we are growing.
Our struggles and afflictions are working in us and through us for our eternal purpose. Therefore, do not let our focus rest on what we see or what we are going through, let is rest in our faith in the Lord our God who is able to and will one day deliver us and receive us into that place that He has prepared for us.
Remember, YOU MUST SEE BEYOND WHAT YOU SEE WITH YOUR NATURAL EYES. We must know without a doubt that whatever suffering we might have to endure now, be it pain or injustice CAN NOT and WILL NOT negate God's plan nor His purpose for our lives now and in eternity with him.
SIGHT BEYOND WHAT I SEE IS THE CALL TO EVERY BELIEVER ON TODAY. Yes, even in the midst of pain and suffering.
I must have sight beyond natural sight to enter the kingdom of God. God is eternal and what I see now with these natural eyes is temporary.
People of God, spiritual sight is your only option! If not, you will give up and quit and not finish the race in which you have been called to run as a child of God.
Be encouraged on today, keep Jesus in view for it is He who is the Author and Finisher of your faith.
SIGHT BEYOND WHAT I SEE! WOW!! HELP ME HOLY SPIRIT!
