2 Peter 3:10-13 - But the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat. The earth also and the works that are in it will be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things are to be destroyed, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 while you are waiting for and desiring the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens will be destroyed by fire and the elements will be consumed by intense heat? 13 But, according to His promise, we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
The day of the Lord will take place at the end of the world. When is that day? No man knows, only the Father in heaven.
What we do know is the fact that it is coming, without any doubt according to the Word of God.
Christ coming will be without warning for it will happen suddenly. He will come as a thief in the night.
The words of this text echos Matthew 24:43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.
In other words, If a man knew the hour, or the estimated time when a robber would come to break into his house, he would be ready for him.
Because we do not know the exact hour, when the "day of the Lord" will be, it would behoove us to be ready because when He comes, there will be no further warning for it will be all too late to run for shelter.
What is written in the pages of God's Word called the "Bible"is the only warning that we will get. God gave us the "Bible" in hopes of helping us prepare to one day meet Him face to face.
Scripture declares that He will come as a thief in the night without warning. Will you be ready to meet Him?
When a thief comes, he or she comes without giving prior warning. We are given warning after warning in the scriptures.
Because the day and hour of the end of all things on earth as we know it is with uncertainty, we must remain vigilant so that the "Day of the Lord" that is not only promised but guaranteed to come, will not catch us unprepared.
"The day of the Lord" will come with a loud noise and destruction will take place and the earth as we know it will be no more for it will be destroyed by fire.
Everyday of our lives must be lived in preparation of "the day of the Lord."
The "Day of the Lord" is coming! Will you be ready? If not, why not? You have received your warning throughout scripture about His coming.
Be ye ready for no man knows the day nor the hour when the "Master" of the house would come. He is coming and it will be without warning.
When the "Day of the Lord" comes, I pray we all be ready.
