1 John 2:17-The world and its desires are passing away, but the one who does the will of God lives forever.
Everything that we see today will one day be no more.
What are you laboring for in the future? Is it for earthly gain or eternal gain? What is it?
One known and true fact is that when one's love for the world and all it's pleasures becomes priority, there is no room for God for the desires of the flesh and this world pushes out love for God.
We are reminded in this passage of scripture in vs#15-16-Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not the Father's, but is the world's.
The main point that the writer is driving home here is "do not love the world or the things in the world" for if you do, the love of the Father is not in you.
Understand this: Perishable and short lived is everything in the world, including our lives. The Apostle James describes our life as a vapor that appears for a little while and then it vanishes.
Trying to satisfy your hunger and thirst from the offerings and pleasures of the world will leave you forever thirsty and hungry now and in eternity. No one can drink and eat from the pleasures of the world cup until death and live eternity eating and drinking from heaven.
What is your plan now for the future?
If you daily plan your life for the pleasures of this world and the lust thereof without ever accepting Christ for the pardon of your sins by faith, the world and all it's pleasure will pass away and take it with you.
The good news on today is that if you have been living your life for the world and all it's pleasure, you still have time if you are reading this blog to repent and turn back to God.
Part b of this text offers you hope for it says "if you love God and do His will you will live forever." That's good news for you on today.
If you love God, you will love what He wills for your life. Saying we love God and obedience to His commands go hand in hand. Empty talk does not work with God. God is seeking hearers and doers of His Word.
The call today is to choose your love. Who is it? God or the things of this world?
1 Timothy 6:7- For we brought nothing in this world, and we can take nothing out of it.
Have you placed a higher cost on your pleasures and desires of this world over your soul? Matthew 16:26-For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
Who or whom have you chosen as the love of your life? I pray that it is God for He alone can save you in the end when all of what life has to offer is no longer available to you.
Matthew 6:19-21-“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
I can only hope and pray that you are daily storing up treasures in heaven for all earthly treasures will be left behind. Yes, they will one day be no more and only what you have done for Christ will matter in eternity.
Let us desire more spiritual things in this world for at the end of our journey in this world we would be counted among the wise and be glad that we have done so.
Acts 4:12-Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."
Romans 14:11-It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.'"
I know you have chosen the love of your life and that you are living your life daily in obedience to it or he or she.
The Love of your life! Who or what is it?
If your confession on today is that you have not chosen yet, your way of life living reveals your choice.
I urge you to choose today whom you will serve. Tomorrow is not promised and may be too late for you. No one knows what tomorrow holds, therefore choose wise on today for your life now and in eternity depends upon your decision to love or reject Christ.
Today is decision making time for you!
