Mark 1:40-41 A leper came to Him, pleading with Him and kneeling before Him, saying, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” 41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, extended His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I will. Be clean.” 42 As soon as He had spoken, the leprosy immediately departed from him, and he was cleansed.
Leprosy start with discoloration of a patch of skin. . If left untreated, the disease eventually affects the internal organs as well which can cause deformity.
The person with this disease was considered unclean and an outcast in society and was barred from temple worship and service because it represented sin and uncleanliness.
The leper saw Jesus and I believe he not only heard about the miracles Jesus performed, but he probably saw some of the people who had been sick and diseased in the past that are now healed.
The leper received his healing that day because he not only believed that Jesus was able to heal him, but he believed that Jesus had the power and the ability to do just that for him.
Guess what? We too were lepers. Our disease was called “SIN”.
