Romans 6:16 Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as slaves to obey, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?
In this text to those the Apostle Paul is writing to, he boldly makes a statement of assumption that his readers are aware that everyone of them know that they are a slave to something or someone when he ask the question "do you not know?"
The point that Paul is driving home to his readers is "we are all slaves." None of us is free. We are in bondage to whatever controls our lives." Whomever or whatever we daily submit in obedience to is our master.
Whose slave are you? This is a question we all must answer everyday of our lives. Whom will we serve today?
How can you tell whose slave you are? We can tell whose slave we are by who or what we daily pledge our allegiance to. The one to whom you have chosen to obey.
Believe it or not, but, our thoughts, words spoken, our actions, the company we keep, the behavior we exhibit day in and day out, the things we have done, etc., are all a part of what have made us who we are and what we have become, even unto today.
When the choice was put before Joshua, he declared these words concerning Him and His house in Joshua 24:15-But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD."
Everyone of us is serving only one of two masters for Jesus Himself declares that no man can serve 2 masters at the same time. He will either love one and hate the other.
Are you a slave to sin that leads to death or are you a slave to obedience that leads to life everlasting?
An unbeliever is a slave to self desires, worldly pleasures and satan whose chains are keeping them bound.
Whose slave are you? Romans 6:23-For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
If you are saved, you have been set free to serve sin no longer, but Jesus Christ, who offers righteousness by faith to those who are obedient to Him.
The good news on today to those who are no longer slaves to sin is found in this same text in vs#17-18-But thanks be to God, for you were slaves of sin, but you have obeyed from the heart that form of teaching to which you were entrusted, 18 and having been freed from sin, you became the slaves of righteousness.
A slave to sin and want to be set free? Deliverance is available to you on today. It starts with putting your faith in Christ and God's atoning work by the shedding of Christ blood at Calvary that was done on behalf of your sins and mine.
Romans 10:17 - So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
When you place your faith in Christ, God instantaneously set you free from sin’s power and “committed” you to a new slavery.
As Christians, we who once were slaves to sin and are now slaves to righteousness, were handed over from slavery to sin unto slavery of righteousness by God to new power through the Holy Spirit, to serve God as slaves of righteousness.
Thank You Lord that I am no longer a slave to sin. Set free and delivered.
I HAVE BEEN REDEEMED, BOUGHT WITH A PRICE. JESUS HAS CHANGE MY WHOLE LIFE AND I AM NO LONGER THE SAME. THANK YOU LORD!!!
Whose slave are you? I am a slave to righteousness through Christ Jesus!
